We took the ropeway because my foot hurt although our first plan was to walk it (because we prefer hiking and the cable car is expensive). However, I really recommend the ropeway, at least on the way up, because you discover little by little one of the most amazing views I've ever seen. If you get to the top by... More

We had a really good day going to Miyajima, the Ropeway was good getting us to just below th summit. Once you get to the last Ropeway station it's a shortish climb to the summit. Really worth the effort. The only negative is that they crowd 8 people in to the cable cars that probably only hold 6 by 2017... More

The rope way is a nice alternative to hiking the entirety of Mt. Misen. The rope way is actually two rides. One is much longer and takes you most of the way, then you change to a larger car that goes across a small valley. Once you arrive, you can see around much of the island and possibly some monkeys!... Do the Ropeway as soon as you arrive on the island to avoid the crowds. Behind the main shrine is a souvenir shop and the man sells genuine Ropeway tickets. He will also show you were to wait for the free shuttle bus if you don't want to walk up the hill to the first Ropeway station. We bought tickets... More

We stumbled upon this attraction as we were walking around and are so glad we did. The views from the top of Mount Misen are fantastic. I would plan 2-3 hours to hike around but if you don't hike and just take in the views you will be amazed. Try and do it on a clear day.

The ropeway (cable car) carries you close to mount Misen top in approx. 15mins with a change of car during the journey. The one-way journey costs 1000 yens. Return journey costs 1800yens. If you don't know whether or not you want to walk down (1.5 hour), you may purchase the return ticket at the top. From there you'll be enjoying... More

This is a must do on Miyajima and is well worth it. Views from the top are spectacular across the inland sea. Also it facilitates an easy route to the top of Mount Missen with its viewing platforms and shrines. It is on 2 stages. Worth thinking about a single ticket up (yen 1,000) and walking back down unless you... More

Took the ropeway up mount misen and it was a very effective way to travel. The ropeway is of an old version compared to other ropeways I visited, but perfectly safe. You will still have to walk apromximately 30 minutes to the top of mount misen from where the ropeway is ending, or you can just take pictures of the... More

It's a little pricey, but it's a great way to get to the top. Especially if you don't have a lot of time or if hiking up would be too difficult. There is still a little bit of a hike from the ropeway to the Mt Misen summit and observatory. The views from the ropeway station are pretty amazing, but... More

The price for adults is 1800 yen return trip. You could also choose to do one way for 1000 yen. The ropeway (gondola) has 2 sections to it, with a transfer in the middle. There is a free shuttle bus that can take you 3 minutes up the hill to the station. The walk, about 8 minutes through the forest... More
