Walked up mt misen via the daishoin route. A great walk up and a decent workout. It took me about an hour from the start of the climb with the odd photo/sip of water along the way. This route is essentially 2 km of steps....More

I could not believe how challenging this hike was and the Japanese elderly and women in panty hose and wedges seemed to be completing it effortlessly! We took the gongola up and found it quite expensive since my children over 12 were considered adults...so myself...More

We were advised to go to the top of Mt Misen by our ryokan hostess. It was a lovely walk of 45mins + to the cable car, but then a strenuous climb up rocky steps for another 40 mins. So glad we did! The views...More

A destination objective that required us to take the train (JL line), a ferry, a walk though an Asian market, a gondola, and untimely a hike up an old stone trail. Well worth the effort!

Quite a lot of steps takes you to the top - might choose the route that goes near the cable car next time since less steps. Path very well marked and could be completed using walking shoes rather than boots. Take water and snacks since...More

After paying for our tickets, we walked up to the cable car station. This is a bit of an uphill climb. However, there is a free shuttle if you don’t want to exert yourself. We thoroughly enjoyed the views when we reached the upper station....More

After visiting the Island and many temples we took the cable cars(two different ones) to go up the mountain. At the end of the cable car you have to climb for about 1 kilometer to go to the temples there. Many steps and not easy...More

You can hike all the way up here, but we decided to take the cable car and then walk the rest. Don't be fooled- this is not easy. I'm pretty fit and the hiking is tough going in places. However, it really is worth the...More

There are great hiking trails from Miyajima to Mt. Misen. The climb is quite big and the total trip takes several hours, but the views on the way and on top are really extraordinary and beautiful. You should definitely do this if you are spending...More

2.5 km walk up many many steps with plenty of places to pause, and well signposted all the way to the top. There is a cable car but we decided to go on foot as it was a lovely sunny day. The views from the...More

Hi Koral88 Even if you take the ropeway there's still a considerable distance to walk to get to the top of Mt. Misen from the platform where the ropeway ends. It's a lovely uphill trail and the views are worth it. We rode... More
