As most public transportation in Japan, this ferry also follows the schedule. There's plenty of places on board to take pictures while sailing.

When you visit Miyajima, there are only a few options of getting there. The most common are the two ferry companies that operate just a short stroll from Miyajimaguchi Station. They're both reliable and the last time I checked they both had the same prices. The only thing you might want to consider is if you like orange or blue.... More

This is the ferry terminal to get to Miyajima Island. Just buy your tickets and get on board without any fuss. Do note that they do not accept credit cards; and you can buy a return ticket

The ferry left every few minutes and loading was efficient and fast. It was easy to find from the train station. A quick and quiet trip across to Miyajima.

It was easy enough to go from the train station to the ferry using the JR rail pass. There is an underground passage that has signs to get to the ferry from the station without having to cross the street.

This was free/included with our JR Pass which ultimately is what decided us going to Miyajima for the morning. Very clean and quick.

We used the JR ferry as I was using the JR rail pass for West Japan which covered the ferry. The ferries are just constantly going to and from the mainland to Miyajima, there's no need to plan a set time to cross. An extra advantage is that the JR ferry gives a commentary on the 'floating Toriri gate' /... More

Especially if you have a JR pass, this is the way to go. Catch the JR Sanyo line to Miyajimaguchi, take a short walk to the JR ferry stop, and it's a 10 minute ferry ride across to Miyajima. Typical clean, efficient and lovely Japanese transport.

It takes about ten minutes to ride to the Miyajima Island. The scenery is beautiful. You will see the oyster farms along the route. Oyster is very famous there.
