Not Geibikei but has its charms

Geibikei cruising in winter is giving new experience by sitting in the warm table along the gorge of Geibikei and you can feed the ducks along the way. very nice and fun

This gorge as it was rather small, although the rocks were interesting at least. I was amused by the zipline attached by the restaurant at the other side of the ravine where you could purchase Japanese dumplings on a skewer. The restaurant and its good idea is part of the charm of the visit to this place.

Entertaining and visionally pleasing. You make you way down to a pergola on the opposite side of the river to which the food is made. You place your order in the basket which is attached to a guild line thats is pull over the cravenness river to a small old home. A few minutes latter the basket is sent down... More

This isn't a place to base your trip around but certainly a must if you are travelling to the area. The gorge is beautiful; stunning blue water, a beautiful rocky gorge with heavy flowing water and nice walks. We were there in Autumn so the gorge, water and colourful leaves were a stunning mix of nature. This is a place... More

Genbikei is small compared to Geibikei (the one with boats) but I enjoyed my visit. Paths lead along the banks of the gorge, with views of eroded rock and swirling water. There's a swaying little suspension bridge. Looks of happy people but not crowded. It's a short bus ride from Takkoku no Iwaya, the temple built into a cliff.

If you have some 30-60 minutes to spare and come close to this spot it is worth stopping for a short break possibly including some snack or drink in one of the nice CAFÉEs or restaurants close by. You will find a rocky river gorge with a medium size river running through it. The views are nice, but the area... More

Genbei-kei George is a small gorge, that being said one should remember that most natural features in Japan are not on the scale of those in Canada or America. None-the-less it has a certain charm and is worth the time if you are in Ichinoseki. In our case we took a taxi out from the city to Takkoku no Iwaya... More

This little gorge is worth stopping by if you're travelling by car, but perhaps not worth a special bus trip out. Depending on recent rainfall (we were there just two days after a major typhoon passed over) the amount of water coming through this narrow rock gorge can be incredible. There are several trails and look-outs through from which to... More
