The view is breath taking and how historical it is. You can try your luck by throwing small stones in a hole afar down in the rock.

Very nice views, very pretty and scenic shrine - There were warning about vicious monkeys but did not see any during the trip. Worth a detour.

Visited the shrine on a hot August morning. The ocean view is great and actually more impressive than the shrine.

It was pouring rain when we went, but it was so gorgeous, we didn't care. The cave, the views, the shrine, made for a magical day.

This shrine should not be missed if you are in this area. It's position by the ocean is stunning, and its unique cave structure is very interesting. There are lots of steps for those who have mobility challenges so be aware.

Enjoyed my trip to Udo Jingu shrine! I took a bus from Miyazaki station (you can get a Miyazaki all day bus pass for 1,000Yen) and stopped at the car park of this shrine. Going to the underground shrine, overlooking the pacific, you will encounter stairs going uphill, downhill and through a tunnel but it's not that exhausting. I thought... More

The shrine is quite a bit of a walk (uphill, downhill, thru a tunnel). If shrines, walking and great views of the Pacific is your cup of tea, then go for it. Some people might find it boring and not worth it though. I was happy that I stopped by though driving along the coast en route to Miyazaki.

I am not sure we park in the wrong place or not, we walk about 20 mins to reach the entrance. From the entrance, it takes about 10 mins to reach the shrine. The view is nice and the shrine is in the cave. Although it is east facing which cannot see the sunset, but the color of the sky... More
