This is an old town with a couple of hundred years of history. But the actual buildings are not that old, and the town does not show compared with other towns of Japan.

You will have an opportunity to ride on a rickshaw. The guides there are very friendly and speak English. There is a guide map to follow and you can taste their local cuisine.

Visited Obi Castle Town in August. Nothing impressive, can skip if you don't have much time. We visited the castle town after the Udo Shrine under a 4 hours excursion from Diamond Prince cruise costing US$99 per person.

This castle is not as famous as the other castles in Japan, but it's a great place to visit if you are in Miyazaki Prefecture and want to indulge in historical scenery. It doesn’t have that “look at me” feeling that the other famous castles have, but the castle grounds, as well as the surrounding restaurants and shops make it... More

Nice place to explore. I wish the castle museum were bigger. FYI, you can't take photos indie, even without a flash.

This was my second visit and I was glad I returned. The feel of the castle puts you back in time. It has a nice quiet serenity, with lots of lovely trees. Don't be intimidated by the expansive steps in some areas. If you have the stamina go explore! I liked trying the Japanese archery; kyudo. There is a cute... More

Great place to travel, a nice little village with nice people there. Better to do some research in order not to miss the information provided there. Tickets are required to get into those buildings but it is worth to pay since you can add package to pay visit to lots of shops for exchanging souvenir.

Visited so many castles in Japan and found Obi Castle is one of the most interesting ones. Not only because of the buildings in Edo style but also the coupons for visitors to take away souvenirs and snacks from the local shops. It was kind of treasure hunt and all the freebees made us smile. The cedars forest inside also... More

This is not a very typical castle you would find in Japan, but still you can appreciate the culture and the history by watching at the remains of the castle as well as going into the museum. At the top of the hill, you will be surrounded by the tall cedar trees and the breeze coming up from the river... More

Great place to visit and learn about the history in the area. Small town is great for shopping and grabbing a bite to eat for lunch or dinner.
