Travelling anywhere on the Kunisaki Peninsula is like travelling back in time. We were fortunate that our tour used a bus for some of the more remote places we visited including this site with its interior a national treasure and its exterior buddhas covered with moss and communing with nature.

We went to this shrine over Golden week while shrine hopping around the area. It was a nice place with a lot of old buildings. Got to get my shrine book signed there as well.

We took a Japanese bus tour to the Kunisaki Peninsula as a way to see the various temples and shrines that we otherwise could not easily visit on our own. The tour was conducted in Japanese, but the guide made sure to tell us at each spot when the bus would leave for the next venue and we were free... More
