I visited here on the advice of several locals. While I appreciate the religious and historical significance of the place, I was not impressed with what was on offer - essentially a loop trail that passed several rock formations/worship sites. Too many people were on...More

As it is still a place for worship, we were told to look at an introductory video before we enter the site for real. It was interesting to see how a worship is carried out and it also taught us what not to do as...More

This place is one of the world heritage site in Okinawa. Utaki means sacred place. From ancient time people in Okinawa believe that god is in the nature. Only women who were high rank in religion were permitted to enter this place. There are some...More

If you are in Nanjo, do drop by this location since it's by the way. A good 30 mins to spend here and have a stroll here. Quaint art stores and cafes on the way in.

We visited Sefa Utaki twice in January 2018. the first time in overcast, rainy and chilly weather, the second in bright sunshine and a lot warmer. There were very few visitors the first time, but not ridiculous number the second. This is a place that...More

There’s a 500m walk from the carpark to the compound. It’s a nice quiet walk within Sefa Utaki. As other reviews mentioned, we watched the videos before entering the site. It really helped us get an understanding of the place while we walked through the...More

At the moment you entered this site, you'll straighten your spine. As much as it will be with nature, I think that there is a spiritual atmosphere here. Just by touching historical sites and rocks, you may feel the human prayers spanning hundreds...More

Beautiful natural scenery with tropical jungle feel that shows the spiritual side of Okinawa history. Would avoid in the rain as the paths are slick and some are steep at times. Relatively short route so an easy visit.

Was not prepared for the intense heat and humidity but it was worth it. The huge spiders up in the trees were a site as well. If you are in Okinawa this place is worth a visit.
