When you look at the waterfall, the afternoon sun is somewhat behind you. So I don't believe sunset or earlier makes a difference in the view or the scenery. Not sure about the "park" hours. I'd time myself to get back to... More

We were there beginning of October, just green leaves then. But google autumn color reports japan to find a website where you can see reports on the progress of autumn in Japan :)
