This hotel is quite remote and we drove there. It has amazing views. We had booked a Japanese style room which wasn't really my husband's idea of fun but I enjoyed it for a night. We weren't quite clear on the etiquette - did we have to wear the kimono for dinner or not? Dinner was a full kaiseki meal... More

The Oboke and Iya area is a gem in Shikoku. The whole area is surrounded by tall green trees. The landscape is fantastic and stunning. This onsen hotel was built on a slope near the top of the hill. My husband and I stayed there for two nights. The rooms were all newly renovated. It’s a pity that the view... More

My wife and I spent 3 days here on our honeymoon. Our room was spacious and refined with an unreal view of the valley. Outdoor bath with hot water from the spring. The meals were yet another highlight. Come with an appetite to every one!

The ryokan is hidden in the hillside and has only few rooms which makes it nice and cosy. The suite we had had a wonderful view to the valley. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and can manage simple English well.

The care with which we were looked after here was lovely, as you would expect considering it is pricey. However, travelling with a 2 year old can be challenging (especially in a paper clad room!) and yet they made us feel like she was very welcome. She had her own special tableware for our special dinner and they were happy... More

Driving to this isolated onsen was fun, yet a bit dangerous. Luckily, the rain had stopped in the morning, leaving behind slightly slippery mountainous road. Food is local delicacies and very yummy. Best time to go is Autumn for the red leaves. We were late for this, but nevermind, the cable car and open onsen by the river, was just... More

It was my girlfriend's first time in Japan, and her first time staying at an onsen ryokan. As we checked out, she told me that I had spoiled all other onsens for her, since they could not possibly be better. Location is incredibly scenic, no one around for miles and you go down this cable car to the open-air bath... More

Magnificent views of the mountains and the deep long ravine-like valley with blooming sakura on both sides. Rotenbro - open air hot-spring is 150 m beneath and you go there by a cable car... All inside is classic Japanese... Good Wi-Fi everywhere.
