Very impressive. There are two massive red gates into this Zen Buddhist temple complex, and a nice altar installation in the main building. Perhaps the most visually impressive part of the complex is the section in the woods beyond, where many of the lords of the dominant mori clan are buried, behind torii gates and 150 stone lanterns. Highly recommended.

This is my favorite temple in Hagi. The entrance has beautiful red gates, and the graveyard in the back is simply stunning and peaceful.

This temple although marked on the town tourist map seemed to be a little unloved. Maybe because it is near the Shoin Shrine and everyone goes there and doesn't bother to walk, or get the bus the extra short distance. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip with all the stone monuments and shrines to the local noble...
