My husband and I visited in May, the weather was perfect, not so hot or cold, we really enjoyed the guided tour included the whiskey sampling and shopping, they have a huge blooming wonderful garden too, it took 30 mins walk.

I had an enjoyable afternoon at Nikka Whisky Distillery, needed to fill out a form before heading to wine tasting. Nikka wine was really really nice, highly recommended!

We were disappointed that there was no English guided tour. Also the owner's house was closed. However, entry to museum is free. And there's some English translation beside the exhibits. Whiskey tasting was also free.

It was quite a drive to the area, from fast moving Sapporo through Otaru and then to Yoichi. The distillery was easy to find, with the help of our GPS. Thankfully, there were only a couple of tour buses which meant a couple of tour...More
