Brigitte and Philippe Subra came from France in 1998 to live in Mendoza....

Brigitte and Philippe Subra came from France in 1998 to live in Mendoza. Philippe managed a company in the electric business of Mendoza for more than 4 years. They created CarinaE Viñedos y Bodega (CarinaE SA) in January of 2003. The company dedicates itself to produce high quality wines, with grapes that are produced in its own vineyards of low yields located in the traditional first zone of Mendoza. The wines are made in the winery they rebuilt at their property in Cruz de Piedra, Maipú.CarinaE has near 20ha of productive vineyards that are spread around its property at Tres Esquinas, Cruz de Piedra, Maipú (8 ha of 85 years vineyard of Malbec, 0,5 ha of Syrah, and 2 ha of Sabernet-Sauvignon), and on the famous Calle Cobos in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo (3ha and 4,5ha of 90 years old vineyards of Malbec). Near the Cruz de Piedra property, a little vineyard of 2ha was newly planted with syrah and malbec, and begun to produce syrah in 2011.This “Boutique” winery has a vat capacity of 260,000 liters. It has renewed concrete vats coated with epoxy paint and a cellar with 200 French barrels. CarinaE has the necessary technology to produce high-quality wines.

This is the only winery open on Sundays in Maipu, Mendoza. My friends and I didn't know this and were at first disappointed that we were only able to visit one winery, but our ignorance led us to a fantastic day at Carinae VInedos. We had a tour and tasting, then split a couple bottles of our favorite wine and... More

We were passing Mendoza towards Buenos Aires without much time. We wanted to taste and buy wines from a small boutique winery, instead of going to the big ones that you can buy at the supermarket. Carinae fulfilled the objective. We tasted any wine we wanted, a great olive oil, bought many bottles and we met the owners, a nice... More

Intended to call in for a quick tasting but ended up staying for over two hours as we were made to feel so welcome and the ambiance was so great. After a tasting we bought a bottle of a Malbec blend to drink in in their garden with a food platter - a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in... More

Standard winery, not different than the others. After the tour, they offered several categories of wine tasting. I chose the most expensive, as it was the only one that offered the two specific wines I wanted to taste. There were some 12 people at the table, and each one chose a different tasting category with different prices. At the end,... More

Dear Ercio, thank you for giving your opinion. Of course it does not make us happy! You are the second one that expresses such opinion recently. We were having a big mistake doing that. A small bodega with an extremely sympathetic guide. Nice place to be the first visit because everything is very simple. Not memorable wines.

We enjoyed a lovely tour and tasting with Philippe the owner. He was knowledgeable and charming. We left with 3 wines including a bottle of Prestige. If you like Malbecs and Cabs this is the place for you.

If you were like us, you rented a bike from central Maipu and made the trek through amazing architecture to get to Carinae. Few tourists go this far and that's a shame cuz the scenery on the route was spectacular. The cityscape of Maipu were generally all the tourists stay is not so great. Carinae is not to be missed... Here we learned a lot about the process of wine making. These people are committed to staying small and a craft winery. Many people come in small groups and go away laden with bottles of very unique wines.
