I'll just get this out of the way. It costs 100 pesos to park here now, and I strongly recommend you bring exact change or you may not receive the proper change back from the attendant. Other than that, this is a very nice beach with white sand and usually clear, aqua water. The waves are sometimes suitable for body surfing. There is a restaurant which I have not tried, and there are bathrooms available, which I think cost ten pesos to use. It was very busy when I was there this week, but 300+ yards to the east or west of the main public area it was fairly quiet. The far ends of the beach were almost empty.

Gorgeous beach that is perfect for young kids to be able to run in the surf and sand for a long way before hitting waves or depth. $5 USD/1000 pesos to park, and they were able to give us a ticket to return with the rest of our group as we couldn’t all fit in one trip. We brought our own chairs and umbrellas and had plenty of space to set up. The beach was super quiet from about 10-12 and then traffic started to pick up but certainly wasn’t crowded or noisy.

Best beach in Puerto Vallarta / Banderas Bay. Water is 85 degrees in Mid September. Waves can be 6 - 8 feet at times so do not turn your back on them! Great body surfing and boogie board etc. Of course surfing too! Water is much cleaner here than in PV with very little run off from jungle and rivers. Restaurant at the beach is nice and the Red Snapper was great! Many vendors but they are friendly and polite. During covid they were also wearing masks which was much appreciated. I did the same when shopping.

This is a perfect beach for families! Huge, soft sand, no rocks, playful waves. Came here with our 5 and 8 year olds and had the best time!! Parking is 100 pesos and there are some casual drink/food spots on the beach too.

We have been coming to Mexico for 13 yrs. 9yrs ago we purchased a condo 10 minutes from this beach. We never get tired of the view. We did notice this year that they started to charge 100 pesos for parking. Which is ok, we are hoping the money is going towards beach maintenance. You can rent tables and chairs and lounge chairs as well from the local restaurant there. Has always been very good. We would highly recommend a day trip to this beach.

We have been driving to this lovely beach for years. This is the first year we had to officially pay to enter. In the past it has been just tip one of the locals. The official price of 100 pesos is now posted on the road and one must pay before entering.
I don't know who (government or private) is getting this money but I feel badly for the cart vendors, like Poncho the fruit and pie guy, Poncho works hard every day and has costs for ingredients yet only recieves 100 pesos for two pies and a tray of assorted fruits.
I hope this change does not keep people away
Obviously, I highly recommend Poncho. He maintains a very clean operation, but one can get hooked on the pies that his wife makes daily. He is located at the bottom of the entrance path.

Been going to La Cruz for awhile now and this was the first time going to Destiladeras Beach and boy was I missing out. We rented 4 chairs a table and a umbrella for $250 Peso's for the day and boy was it worth it. Spent the entire day at the most beautiful beach we have ever been too. Even the food from the beach bar was pretty decent although the service was a bit slow we understood as the beach was very busy and we went for the beach experience so waiting for some eats was not an issue. Getting there by bus was quite entertaining as well if you like carnival rides as the bus does go quite fast around the bends. Part of the experience I guess. But yes for sure will be going back at least 3 or 4 more times next year.

We love this beach for so many reasons. The bus ride there is entertaining...all drivers think they are Mario! You can go with a bathing suit and money....the tables near the restaurant are free if you order one plate and one drink per person. The guy with the fruit plates makes frequent rounds.
The beach itself is so walkable, flat and long. The waves change so caution advised as anywhere. People are friendly. This is a beach we must visit every year. New developments seem to be coming so this may change!

This is a beautiful beach. Large waves and a long stretch beach. Great for smaller groups if you bring your own umbrella and chairs.
We sat with a large group of 12 and had chairs and umbrellas for all. The service was good and the food was fine. Enjoyable day.

Visited February 29-March 9. Had a good time with family (4 adult coupes). Food was ok. Nothing super impressive and nothing was served very hot. Room was ok. Floors never really seemed to be dry. Hands down the best part of the trip was Juan Carlos and Esteban on the Rooftop for Prestige members! They were absolutely the best!!!
Excited to visit the Grand once it’s built and would love to see Juan Carlos and Esteban there!

Anyone been to this beach location this year 2020. We used to get day pass at Rancheo Bandaras but it is very expensive now that the new buildings are there. We love the beach and want to go for the day. Wondering about food on the beach. Chairs to sit on the beach. Some good tips please would be appreciated.

Hello, It is 100 pesos per vehicle to enter the beach. There is a large restaurant that rents chairs and umbrellas or you can bring your own for free.

¿Se puede acampar en esta playa? El nivel del agua sube pero deja espacio para poder acampar o no?

I am looking for accommodation nearby. Would prefer wi fi, and pool in the $75-120 range

We stayed in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle in a condo. I would suggest using one of the home rental sites to find accommodations. La Cruz is a short drive or bus ride to Destiladaris. We found accommodations for about 80 a night including a lovely pool and WiFi in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo.

Can you walk to this beach from the Grand Palladium?
Written 8 February 2017
I am not sure where the Grand Palladium is, but it is worth a cab or bus ride to this beach...

Has anyone been here since August? Is there barbed wire prohibiting entrance to the beach now?
Written 13 October 2016
They close the parking , cause they made another one about 1000 feet further down towar punta mita, the bus is stopping there now , much cleaner bathroom, and a smal restaurant , plus you can rent chair and umbrella for about 150 pesos
Written 12 January 2017
This sounds like our kind of beach. We will be in PV in 10 days and hoping to boogie board, is there some place to rent boards here and if so what do they charge?
Are there restaurants/bars on the beach or do you bring your own refreshments?
Written 8 February 2016
There is no rentals available here. There is a restaurant and a place you can rent lounge chairs. Or if you buy food and drinks at the Nahui you can use there very nice facilities and lounge chairs (complementary. Check the tide schedule before heading out as it does make a difference, but the beach is fabulous!

What bus did you take - and where did you catch it? Have always rented a car in the past, but will be bussing it this trip.
Written 15 July 2015
Yes you can get to Destiladeras Beach by bus from Puerto Vallarta...that is how we travel in that area too! It is not hard to get to but you have to tell the driver to let you off! You can catch the bus at the WALMART in Puerto Vallarta and if I am not mistaken the bus will have PUNTA MITA on the front. it is a great place to visit!! Hope this helps!
