It is a great place for watching birds and nature! We started at 6 am, finished at 10:30. This is the perfect time. Ticket price for 2 persons - 5002.50 rupees, the cost of renting a jeep with a driver-guide - 4500 rupees. We agreed about the tour through the owner of the hotel Lagoon Inn, in which we lived.... As recommended by many on here I used Srimal for my safari- he was really knowledgeable about the birds and animals and was helpful at suggestions as to how to get to bundala. We were going to use a taxi from tangalle and srimal knew that (and I dare say could have made a bit by organising that for us)... More

We visited hear whilst on a 4 night stay in Sri Lanka, whilst the park was beautiful with lots of animals to see and the jeep comfortable, I think it was too much for our two young children it was a good two hour tour with 15 minutes travelling time to and from the national park. By the end of... More

Great bird viewing; several dozen species. Lots of peacocks, including a male dancing ritual from two meters. Elephants, crocs, pigs, mongoose, deer, monitors, monkeys. Good tour provided by Srimal. He was on time, comfortable truck, nice guy.

We were there 6am, and there were nearly no other cars. Lots of birds, but we also met elephants, crocodile, mungoes, deer, water buffaloes, water monitor and monkeys. I liked this place better than Yala, because it was less others. We could stop and take photos without thinking of the cars behind, and I felt we got closer to the... More

A brilliant park, far less packed than the nearby wildlife safari parks. You need a knowledgeable guide, a pair of binoculars and a camera, then just enjoy a couple of hours seeing the wonders of nature. Breathtaking

The Lake View Cottage in Tissa (review to follow) organised my half day safari starting at 5.30am. I was the only person going and although I had read that it was quieter than Yala, what I didn't expect was to have the park more less to myself (with driver) until another jeep arrived about an hour later. Only 2 jeeps... More

We booked Srimal for a Bundala NP tour & were very happy with our choice. He is a very friendly guy who grew up near this park and so has great knowledge of all the birds and animals we saw. Currently he is studying the names of the birds in German so seems to go that extra mile to help... More

After the chaos and poor behaviour of Yala NP, we visited Bundala the next morning. Stretched along the coast to the West of Yala, it lies between the sea and lagoons. It is a beautiful small park and very peaceful, with a small number of visitors compared to Yala. The bird life was outstanding and it was possible to approach... More

Bundala National Park is lesser known that Yala but offers a great safari opportunity. Although there are some elephants, Bundala's main attraction is the bird life with over 400 species in the park
