Located very near the Burren Centre, access to the cathedral and grounds is free. There is plenty of information sign boards to make a visit worthwhile. Used the Burren Centre itself for morning coffee and cake ( catered for gluten free) and as an amenity...More

We visited the cathedral and old crosses after watching the very interesting and informative film of the area at the nearby Burren Centre in Kilfenora. The remains of the cathedral are worth seeing and the highlights are the ancient celtic crosses which have been well...More

We were on a bus tour of the area and stopped here for a quick visit. There is no admission to visit this spot. They have a glass roof over the cross remnants to protect them from the elements. There is a sign to help...More

The crosses are definitely worth a visit. The setting is modest (with a glass ceiling that allows for light, but seems out of place). The Cathedral includes these early-Christian icons, but also the graves of recently departed residents of the area. This will be a...More

This old cathedral is an interesting piece of history. It's no longer a diocesan cathedral and is partly ruined but it remains a consecrated church. It's an unusual mix of a Protestant cathedral with a Catholic graveyard around it. Worth a stop.

Interesting if you are into old Celtic crosses. Worth about 45 minutes and some good pictures. Not many tourists, so we almost had the place to ourselves.

The Kilfenora Cathedral & High Crosses are worth exploring though if you're not interested in history or old monuments, the appeal will be limited.

Located directly in the town of Kilfenora, the cathedral’s primary value to a tourist is its archaeological significance, which, quite frankly, is not of huge interest to me as someone looking primarily for photo ops while touring. Given all of the other beautiful churches and...More
