Come at night and explore the market that caters mainly for local. Lots of cheap food, restaurants. Would recommend this than Damnoen saduak (which has lots of tourist stuff, souvenirs etc)

Visited this market at lunch time. Very crowded with Bangkok tourists due to ceremonial festivities. Had lunch in one of the many local foodstalls. Noodle soup with porc. Many shops for souvenirs. Various locations to eat seafood.

The market is busting with people on the weekends. During the week Amphawa is a sleepy town. You can get cheap longboat rides to see temples on the river, or if your here at night to go see the fireflys. Shops are filled with all sorts of goodies. Prices are all decent but can be haggled down. There are many... More

The Amphawa floating market is open only on weekend (Saturday). Since it's quite far from the city, it's best to plan this in advance. Being a weekend affair, expect it to be crowded since this is a market that is flocked equally by both locals and tourists. You will need to hire a boat (if you are traveling alone/family) or... Amphawa is a floating market where are too crowded people on weekend. There are a lot of ancient toy, dessert, and food. Lots of grilled sea food for lunch and dinner. You can eat in restaurant or order from the seller then eat it by the canal. In the day you can travel by the boat to go to the... More

Recommend to stay overnight here at Friday or Saturday. Although the market officially start at afternoon during weekend, a lot of shop or stall already started their business in the morning, furthermore late eveving more leisure.

I wanted to visit Maeklong Railway Market for a long time, and we had visitors who wanted to visit a floating market, so we combined the 2. This is a weekend market, and parking, while well organised, was a bit of a nightmare. Apart from the tour boats zipping in and out of the small outlet, there was very little... More

We had a late start... we got out of bed at noon and left the hotel around 1 pm from bangkok. We took bus 515 from victory monument (at the end of the skywalk) to a mini van station where they take you to amphawa market. We arrived around 430 where we paid and booked for our spot back to... More
