A small typical train station, with a few set of Portuguese tiles in a very good shape. It has a small wine & chocolate souvenir store where you can grab a glass of wine and relax for a few minutes while enjoying the landscape of Douro. A calm station since very few trains use it. You might get lucky and... More

This is not a review of the trip, wait until September for that. I was able to book our tickets for a trip Sept 17th online last week and pay. The booking page was easy to use , eTickets emailed and printed. All done in 1 hour including registering. Great feature as we have to wait until 60 days before... More

We did not do the "Historic Steam Train" but caught the ordinary train from Peso da Regua to Pocinho (which is now the end of the line) and back. The journey takes about 1 1/2 hours each way and is a fantastic way of seeing the spectacular scenery of the Douro valley and river. On the way out try and... More

This German-made 1924 steam train pulls five similarly old carriages between Regua and Tua on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer. Its the best way to see the Douro river valley. We drove up from the south to Cafaes (a rather wonderful drive), and then along the valley to Regua; that is very attractive, but you do not get to... More

I was with a day tour and we headed back from Regua. Took lots of the photos of the train station as well as the old train.

This train trip is along the right banks of the Douro River, while the famous scenic N222 road extends along the left bank. The historical train is composed of a steam locomotive built in1925, and 5 old cars build in Portugal circa 1930. The locomotive has been converted to diesel because of environmental concerns and the fire alert in this... More

Bought the tickets in advanced, pages the same as everyone else. As we got in, CP staff greeted us with brochures. So far, so good. We sit. So does everyone else. Only... We were on the left side of the train, with no view to Douro river. Why? Even after we alerted CP staff about other passengers who, not contented... More

a lovely little ride on this historic train (which isn't always steam), all along the river douro - spectacular scenery. The first thing they do is bring everyone a bottle of cold water, which was very welcome. Other nice touches were the traditional folk singing group that came along for the ride. Although we didn't know the traditional songs, the... More

This is a train trip along the douro river. You make two stops in pinhoa and tua. On the stations is not that much to do. But the trainride is fabulous. One small thing the train doesn't turn so if you booked on the left side you stay there vice versa. They should turn that around on your way back... More
