Twycross Zoo is renowned as a specialist primate zoo and has a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK's only group of bonobos. We have breeding groups of many endangered primate species so we often have babies and toddlers playing around in our orang utan and bonobo groups, and in many of our monkey groups. Set in more than 80-acres, we have around 900 animals of more than 160 species to see, including many native species in the Zoo's Nature Reserve. You can walk with our ring-tailed lemurs in their new walk-through enclosure; see our giant tortoises sunbathing in their new grass area and watch our penguins take their daily walk. Our keepers present regular talks and feeds where you can learn a bit more about some of our animals such as the chimpanzees, penguins and meerkats. Twycross Zoo's award winning Education Department offers a variety of discovery opportunities for many different types of groups and parties. The Zoo holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, all sessions are curriculum linked and all are designed to best engage all age groups.

Great zoo to visit, really informative , they really care about enrichment /environment for their animals. The route round didn't "flow" well- we had to keep going back and for the to ensure we didn't miss anything. Fairly reasonable entry price but extortionate for drinks/ snacks- good job they Are picnic friendly. That aside- definifnetly worth a vist

Visited on an April weekend with partner and a 2 year old. The good: - Fairly compact zoo so easy to explore with a toddler. - Lots of animals to look at (esp. monkeys) - Green areas to picnic/ have a run around. - Lots of parking and not too far to walk to the entrance The not-so-good - Strange... The Zoo is a manageable size in relation to walking around with young children. It is flat and well signposted with maps available. There are a number of talks and activities that includes the animals eg feeding the birds, walking though lemurs and butterflies. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and you can pop back to the car park... More

Thoroughly enjoyed my day at Twycross Zoo with my Mum. The cages were lovely, although a little small for some of the larger animals. The animals looked to be healthy, although we had a couple of no shows. The only downsides to the day was the food everywhere was extremely overpriced. We spent all day at the zoo & finally... More

Visited on Good Friday and was not too busy considering the bank holiday. Once we had got through the confusing pricing system - there's 4 prices available, (with only 3 being shown on their website) for each ticket, with different prices for online/on the gate and then a cheaper price that does not include a 10% conservation donation (does make... Superb zoo with a great selection of animals and loads of play area for the kids to enjoy. The enclosures are nice and big and the zoo is set out well. A full day of fun to be had by the whole family. We are a family of five kids aged 10, 8, 2 and the all loved it and... More

I visited this zoo with my young children and I've found it really difficult to rate. Their average for all tripadvisor reviews is 3.5 stars and this is about right. Reading other reviews there are recurring gripes that keep losing them stars and I hope someone at Twycross will acknowledge them rather than just post generic rebuttal responses. I've been... More

We visited on Good Friday and had a wonderful day with my son and his family, 5 children aged 2-9. The animals looked happy, were clean and well cared for, their environment was spacious with lots of room to play. A wide variety of animals from elephants and giraffes to a range of monkeys, chimps and gorillas plus a butterfly... More
