Tom is one of the nicest men I have met in Ireland. His museum is not the easiest place to find but we had heard such good things about it that we were determined to find it and oh boy am I glad we did. The story of his life and that of his family were just wonderful and kept... More

Visited yet again with our American friends and knew they would be blown away - they are third generation Irish Americans and really interested in their heritage. I knew Tom would not disappoint as he wove his story from the fireplace in the cottage to the amazing museum he has built up and a story to be told about every... More

It's a little out of the way but well worth the effort to get there. We turned up unannounced and were warmly greeted by Tom's wife. Even though Tom had finished the last tour for the day and was in the middle of his meal, he insisted on giving us a mini tour. We loved every minute of it, Tom... More

On a recent visit to Mayo I visited Hennigans Heritage site with two friends. We turned up in the morning and although Tom usually does his talk and tour in the afternoon he was more than willing to light the fire in the old house and begin. Tom was born in the house and he is so knowledgeable on Irish... More

This was the most interesting place we visited on a recent family reunion to Ireland. Tom Hennigan was born in the house at the heart of the tour, and his family lived there for 200 years. His insight into life in the Irish countryside is filled with memories and mementos collected over the years by family members and add a... More

This tour was very good and gives you a great insight of how life used to be in ireland. The life story being told by Tom hennigan the man who himself grew up in this house. There are also lots of historic items to see in another building. Not forgetting to mention the lovely tea and scones made my Catherine.... More

I have been there with different family members on several occasions, and it never gets old. Tom Hennigan gives a great tour and is so knowledgeable about the history of the area and adds a lot of humor to his stories. Also don't forget to have the tea and scones prepared by his wife, they are delicious. I would definitely... More

A little off the beaten track but well worth the effort, Tom Hennigan's original family cottage is well worth a visit. The cottage is typical of every Irish cottage before modernisation. Tom welcomes you before the peat fire and explains how his family survived there. That would be sufficient for an afternoon but that's only the beginning, there also many... More
