A must visit museum to know more about the history of Sibu and what is the best, it is FREE! Just come over and get to know more about the history of Sibu and the air conditioner is damn cold. Should maintain it well.

Went to this place with my family numerous times. Last visit was on 24 August 2023. Bought a number of items at the gift shop (requested by people from Peninsular Malaysia). Pricey but expected as it is considered a tourist hotspot. Very near to the famous Sibu night market.

Sibu Heritage Centre is a must-visit for history buffs, as this is where you get to learn about the history and fascinating stories from different ethnic cultures of Sibu, like the Dayaks, Chinese and Malay. This heritage centre might not be world class, but it is an amazing place to preserve some obscure knowledge about the past. I am grateful for the existence of Sibu Heritage Centre.

Very poor maintanence. There was no museum. Dirty. No tourist information at all. It was just abandon office lot. However, there is one shop for you to buy sourviners, abit pricey compared to pasar but great selections

At first look from the outside, the museum did not look too impressive. But after visiting it, I have learned a lot about the history of Sibu and Sarawak through the write-ups at the various sections. They are available in English, Chinese and Malay.
Free admission. Photo and video taking are not allowed.

Sibu Heritage Centre is a museum-cum-gallery that displays the rich and vibrant cultural heritages of the various ethnic groups of the Central Region in Sarawak. Also, it houses a fine collection of antiques, artefacts and photos, cultural exhibits. Further, it features a collection of Chinese porcelain and clay vases. The museum-cum-gallery is housed in the former Sibu Municipal Council building. A go-to place if you're interested in learning the history and insight of Sibu's history.

This is the place to get your one stop local handicrafts when in Sibu. Lot's of interesting local souvenirs and reasonably priced. Take your time to browse... however note that the place is quite cramp. Otherwise good for a visit

Formally is the Sibu Municipal Council Office. Now transformed to town's museum due to less of parking spaces and towards upgrading public services.
At the ground floor, you can purchase some local hand-making souvenirs and household utensils produced by bumiputera ethnic groups .

The heritage centre is highly educational. Unfortunately, the commercial units are all shut except for one or two outlets. The shop selling native products is interesting. I bought two rattan mats which, according to the shopowner, were weaved by the Penan in Ulu Kapit (though I suspect they were from Indonesia). All the same, I was happy for the price I paid for.
