A visit to any city is incomplete without a visit to its local market.
If you're a foodie, the night market is a perfect food haven for you. Plus, it's also a street food paradise, to boot. Craving barbecued meat? Looking for apam balik (literally 'turnover pancake)? Hungry for tofu desserts? Eager to sink your teeth in local cakes? Fancy steamed buns? Fret not, the night market has got you covered.
P.S. You may need a bath or a shower after a visit to the night market.

Very easy to reach the market either by car or motorcycle, some of them even just by foot.Daily start from 4:30pm to around 10:30pm .
Clothes, radio, etc availabled and normally people visit the market as they like to taste the local Chinese and Malay foods.
You can take a small walk to visit the famous Tua Pek Kong temple with 7 storey pagoda.

The best thing about Sibu is FOOD!
And you can get plenty of varieties here.
Personally, the smooth Taufu Fa (soy bean pudding) and crispy pancake (Thin Crusted pancake or 半个月亮 (half-moon)) is a must try snacks.
You can also get the original Night market RM2 fry chicken. It's more or less the closes KFC-like chicken you can get with a budget price.
The market starts as early as 5pm but it's still better to visit from after 6 to 9.30 where most stall will be operating.

It’s a lot brighter now & feels safer as it used to have a bad reputation for pick pockets. However, this year, it feels like there are less stalls.

I'd 100% recommend coming to these night markets and trying the amazing foods on offer. The pancakes, my personal favourite, are filled with crunchy peanuts and butter and it makes for a delicious treat! The dumplings and pork buns are also great.

As the name suggest, i bet its gonna be a cheat day for you. From sampling of food to take away food pack, I know this is the best night market. Really appreciate the food presentation that really triggered my appetite for more. There was also this guy in the night market who does singing and busking, surprisingly he sang to the tune of Dato Siti Nurhaliza, our famous local singer. Now thats what i call Nationalism.

Thin crust and thick soft pancakes are worth trying. Especially for those who can tolerate peanuts. Very buttery, not overtly sweet, slightly oily, but it taste good for sure. Q may be long at times. Compared to similar type Pancake (locals called it in Hokkien as Ban Chang Kuih) in Penang, it is more buttery and slightly more salty. In term of thin crust pancake, Penang style still the best, more crunchy.

Second visit to night market.
Worth a visit.
Can go hungry as there are lots of food stalls if you like hawker food.
Some bargains to be had.
Cons ... Busy, smelly ... food cooking
Pros .... It's an experience, there's food and some bargains to be had.
Take your time and wander around.

Must eats (sorry they don't really have any english names, or at least i don't know them but I'll show some pictures) : "Half-moon pancakes"/半个月亮,"diê-biāng"/蛎饼,"scallion cake"/油葱糕。
Not a comprehensive list but these are the ones I can think of and have pictures of them right now. They are the ones the older generations crave for! There's more delicacies along the path and you sure need an empty stomach to fit them in!
Enjoy the night market atmosphere, the crowd, and the experience!
