Diamond mine tour

We did the underground tour. What an experience, with miner Hennie. Not a clean santised trip, we came out muddy and dirty, tired and wiser about where diamonds came from. Very... read more

We did the surface tour with Cullinan Tourism and had a blast! The tour guide Anton was very knowledgeable and friendly! A must do....

If you have any interest in the technical side of mining, do the four hour underground tour. You get to dress up in coveralls, boots and a helmet (all needed and not for show). Before you enter the mine, you get a class on using the emergency breather which you are equipped with for the tour. I never thought I... More

We didn't want to take the underground tour of 4 hours+, so enjoyed an hour or so above ground with a very knowledgeable guide. Chose to go wth the guys from the Tourist Information spot who start with some museum facts & artefacts. Other tour operators in the main street offer their own options but were considerably less personable. Game-viewing... More

Here is the states, many folks worship the diamond. But do you really understand it's history? Do you know just how much time, money and effort it takes to mine with 1 carat worth of this precious stone? Well take a trip to the Cullinan Mine and you will be amazed at how much work it takes to find that... More

We started the tour on a Saturday at 10:00 AM. Grace (recepsionist) was welcoming and William (guide) was very informative. Watched a 10min video about the mine, visited a small section of the mine surface operations and viewed "The Hole" (1000 X 500 X 550M). Well worth doing. Gives a whole new feel to the town of Cullinan. Tour took... More

We signed up and paid for an excursion to this diamond mind. A waste of money and time. I think our guide was "George", a retired mine worker. He spent more time socializing with other workers. He was terrible and took so much time for nothing. We finally got to go down in the mine and all we saw were... More

A little pricey but a good experience. The tour guide was professional and well informed. We only had time to do the surface tour but would go back for the underground tour.

Really happy I spent the day doing this tour. It is a proper inside tour and you see the real operations. You are wearing a jump suit, wellies, headlamp, emergency breathing gear - go down the same elevator shaft with the miners, and you see the operations. Unfortunately due to security you don't get to see the cut and polish... More
