Only a few minutes ride. Not able to enjoy the scenery and take photos. As I don't have a seat, I need to hold tight while the cable car is moving at an angle. In addition the car is too crowded but very safe.

After I took the chairlift up I decided to take the cable car down. Same problem when coming up: long line for the cable car and almost non for the chairlift. Nonetheless I took the cable car just to compare and must confess that the...More

The cabin is small and was very congested. As there are only two cars, one going up and the other going down, the wait to get on board can take several minutes.

The cable car saved me time so I could hike to the top of Takaosan with the limited time I had to visit. The scenery is beautiful and the ride is quick.

The funicular railway was opened in 1921. Distance is 1.0 km; vertical interval is 271 m. You can enjoy a panoramic scenery spreading from the base.

I recommend taking the cable car instead of the chairlift if you are afraid of heights. Chairlift would take about 10-15 minutes, but you get to enjoy the scenery along the way. Cable car will take about 5 minutes max.

The cable takes you to the mountain with marvelous view along the road. You will have to pay a fee to use the cable. It is wonderful to enjoy the forest and the view on the way up and down.

Having had 4 good days in Tokyo, this was a great day out. From Shinjuku station, a 50 minute train ride through picturesque country side amidst some towns. If weather fine you see Mt Fuji in all its glory along the way and from summit...More
