Thursday 15 September 2017 Zoo Closed
Sep 2016 • Solo
My partner and I, made the trip from Playa Blanca to visit the excellent zoo park like we have done for many years, only too find tropical zoo painted over leaving just the place name of Guinate on the road sign. We travelled up to the zoo park too see what was happening only to find the park closed up and signage removed. Does anybody know why this excellent facility has closed down or when it will re-open if ever. I do hope the animals have found good homes and the staff are well.

Oct 2015
We had a really nice family day here, my kids loved it. They got to hold the animals and have their pcs taken. We will be visiting again soon.

It was a great day out for younger children
Jul 2015 • Couples
We went last July, but sad to see that the place looks like its no more, they had a great choice of animals to see with close hands on feeding experiences for the kids, we had an enjoyable day out.

LOVED IT!
May 2015 • Family
Me and my family went here and had such a lovely day!
The part itself its a good size with a huge variety of species, from parrots to crocs to penguins. Good value for money we paid extra for the lunch which wasnt to my taste but all the others in my party loved it. After food we went a watched the parrot which was amazing! The parrots were all happy and healthy and the tricks they did were brilliant! After this we went and saw the penguins! We even fed some which is something I've always wanted to do!

The staff were all incredible. So friendly, happy and helpful. I would recommend this place because it filled the day and it's still one of the best days we had in Lanzarote.

If you love animals don't go here!
Apr 2016 • Friends
As we were in the area we decided to visit this venue. Not a tropical park as we had assumed. The poor birds and animals are kept in small dirty cages or enclosures with either very little or stagnant water. All the birds and animals appeared listless. We found three young Penguins in a small cage, their only water was a washing up bowl with a little dirty water inside. Three other penguins in another area did have a proper pool however. As animal lovers we both found the visit upsetting. Goodness knows how the animals fare in the heat of summer.

Awful! DO NOT VISIT
Apr 2016 • Family
This is an awful place and you should not visit! My 7 year old was very upset and asked why are the animals suffering.

Do not go here! Avoid at all cost do not fund this animal cruelty. Sad lonely monkey running backward and forward in its cage on its own. A crocodile in an enclosure with no access to water and three little penguins in a similar situation.

Poorly maintained animals and zoo
Mar 2016 • Friends
After visiting this zoo today (19/03/16 ), all I saw were animals kept in tiny cages with severe health problems from being neglected.

Monkeys showing repetitive behaviour and birds kept in small cages

As an animal lover I found all this too distressing. A group of baby penguins had little to no water in their pen and all the cages needed cleaning.

Don't waste time or money

Small & not worth the €34 it cost for 2 adults & 1 child, I'd say we were 30 mins in there.
Nice drive over though & walk beyond the car park for stunning views but give the park a miss, it's really awful.

Better than expected!
Feb 2016 • Family
True we had low expectations as zoos run as tourist attractions can be 'iffy' to say the least but we were pleasantly surprised with Guinate Zoo - the 13 euro entry for adults is modest and the park itself although not enormous is like a labyrinth inside. We especially liked the meerkats and the parrots - the latter you can get up close too but beware of nipping. Loro Parque it certainly isn't and but I didn't share the comments of other reviewers that the animals were uncared for - we assumed the green water bowls were deliberate?
