Not a big place but enough educational displays and activities to occupy primary kids for an hour or two. Although write-ups are in Japanese, most are simple enough for adults to comprehend and explain to the kids.

We only went into the MIR museum, which is free. I think you might have to pay for the rest of the science museum. It's so amazing to see the MIR twin up close, especially the small areas they had to work and live in....More

It's open from 9:30 to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Besides being closed on Mondays it's also closed between Dec 29-Jan 3.
