Great place to visit if you love to eat fresh fish or sushi. Choose from a variety of welcoming shops and restaurants. Fish is also sold in this market but be sure to arrive early as the best fish tends to sell out early in the morning.

Tsukiji Market Is one of those long-standing Tokyo establishments. Obviously, this was a market set up to sell fish to business establishments and the public eons ago. Today, it is primarily a tourist attraction. Though, I imagine, that some locals and some businesses still shop...More

Go now! It’s as official as it gets that after several postponements, the inner market (wholesale market and tuna auction) is finally closing its doors on Oct 6, 2018. So if you want to go for the tuna auction at this historic sight, do so...More

Always bustling and cheerful with all manner of food cooked and uncooked. Lots of little restaurants and stalls offering a huge choice of food. Fast service though language can be a bit of problem but always worth a trip.

It is very interesting and different. Although the market is closed for tourists during auction, the aftermath is still worth watching. The streets around offer colorful little stores and if you have the stomach for it you can have fish for breakfast.

Bustling market stalls. Does get crowded and hot during the summer. A lot of local and foreign tourists there. Seafood and food there is very fresh. When we went the fish market was closed because it was a sunday. Easily accessible by the subway.

I visited the market twice on 2 separate gloomy days. The outer market was amazing with the people running in and out. Lots of seafood restaurants to try. Packed with tourists. Interesting place to explore action and history.

We weren't prepared to arrive at 4AM to watch a tuna auction, so we got there at 11:00 AM when tourists can walk around. By this time much of the fish has been sold and there isn't much to see.

It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll

Hamrikyu Gardens is 15 minutes walk from Tsukiji market. It opens at 9am and is a lovely spot of culture and tranquility in the city. Visit the gardens and traditional tea houses.
