Just arrived from Italy, we stop at our hotel in Akasaka and went out to visit this place of peace and meditation. A very nice experience.

Agree with reviews that not worth a detour as it is not on tourist trail but then that it what I liked about it. Small, serene and uncrowded.

Nogi Shrine, situated between Aoyama Itchome and Roppongi in the small quiet neighborhood of Nogizaka, is an excellent shrine to visit if you want a quick experience of a shrine without lots of people taking photos or walking around. The shrine is also next to...More

Make sure to get there at 8AM, otherwise is so crowed that you can't walk by yourself trough the gates, the people takes you! It is horrible, you can't enjoy it. We went one day around 11AM and we had to leave, returning next morning...More

The shrine had a very peaceful feel to it and was nice to look around. There is a little room you can go in which tells you the history of the shrine and about General Nogi and his wife. I found it very interesting!

I wouldn't say it's a must-see, but it's an unusual shrine and there's some good people watching. There's a subway station almost next to it, and Roggongi's museums and shops are within walking distance.

You are welcomed by a row of chalet style huts selling kimono's and other tourist stuff. Then the temple appears with its red lanterns and incense fire. A worthwhile visit.

Depends on whether or not you are interested in this part of Japan's culture but I found it fascinating

Akasaka / Roppongi
Not so long ago the Akasaka and Roppongi areas were
famous for their nightlife, high-class restaurants,
bars and clubs. More recently, with the opening of
Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown and Akasaka Sacas, the
area has declared itself as the most fashionable spot
to be seen. The area also hosts the National Art
Center and the Mori Art Museum and lots of trendy art
