Very beautiful view!

With the Tokyo Tower behind it, the temple looked so picturesque! Really nice place to visit, it's not as crowded as the other temples.

A 5 minute walk from Tokyo Tower. Very clean and quiet area. Nice open square in front of the temple. Temple is very well maintained and has a big hall with great ornaments. If you are in the area, pay it a visit.

The temple itself is a classic one but with the Tokyo tower backwards and the surroundings it really worth to pay a visit and relax here. Then you can enjoy nice family or friends pictures with modern style meeting the Ancestors. Enjoy by nice weather only.

We found this Temple by chance simply due to the fact that we were staying nearby. I think this was our favourite Temple. It was also quiet and the grounds were beautiful. My 10 year old daughter also enjoyed it as there were lots of little gifts she could look at and decide what to buy. There was also an... More

One of our best sightseeing in Tokyo! Wonderful temple surrounded by green spaces, a short walk away from Tokyo tower! It was a pleasure to walk in the area, rest in the park, see the Temple and the Japanese cemetery at the back of it. Please check it out!

I would recommend visiting this beautiful temple after going to Tokyo Tower in order to experience the traditions of Buddhism contrasted with the modern world. The treasures museum is also wonderful - with the mausoleum replica on loan from England (hopefully on exhibit permanently!) We were fortunate to experience a Buddhist chant by the monks and nuns too. You could... More

If you're heading out to Tokyo Tower, this a great temple to visit on the way. If you get off the train at Hamamatsucho on the JR sobu line or Daimon on the metro, you can walk west and see the temple and Tokyo Tower together. This is particularly nice in the morning. Considering walking around the temple is free,... More

This was the first temple that we saw in Tokyo. Not really understanding Buddhism, I was intrigued by the temple. There was a big fire outside the temple on the day we visited, as they were burning chairs. I was curious as to why they would be burning chairs.

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
