My only tip would be to check the shrine out early in the morning before 9 am when the crowds are less. This way you really get to take in all that surrounds you.

if you want to feel the forest inside the city of Tokyo, Meiji Jingu is the place, so natural and healing

Just getting there is a relaxing walk through a huge old forest, and seeing the shrine up close was just amazing. It was so peaceful that we actually went here twice, even though it was raining the second time. No regrets, would recommend seeing this...More

You have to visit because Yoyohi Park is amazing and Shibuya is a place to visited. But the shrine is not one of the best of Tokyo

With a packed itinerary we went up and visited the shrine and then left. When I next come to Japan I would love to spend more time in the area surrounding as well. It's a lovely walk, it was my first shrine! Would be fantastic...More

原宿駅の裏にある、明治神宮。 都会の真ん中にある特別なオアシスです。 本堂に向かうまでは長いですが、 一歩一歩砂利を踏みしめるごとに、その場所が神聖な場所であることを感じられます。 Meiji Shrine at the back of Harajuku station. It is a special oasis in the middle of the city. Although it is long to head to the main hall, Every step you step on the gravel you can feel that the...More

The shrine itself is nice, but the wooded pathways are equally noteworthy in their beauty. Get there as early as you can to avoid the crowds. I will say that while the shrine is very large and nice, there are a hundred others like it,...More

Getting to the Shrine is a restful and enjoyable walk. The road is shaded by the canopies of mature trees. There is no vehicle access. The Shrine is beautifully presented. Monks performed a short ceremony at 2pm on the day we were there.

The area surrounding the shrine is very beautiful and in the hot weather it’s lovely to walk through the park to the shrine.

in the centre of Tokyo a very large park and shrine complex. An excellent walk, wide thoroughfares and often you can’t see the city. Very calming and interesting. Then hop across the road to bustling Harajuku!

There are countless opportunities to shop in the
Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops
that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest
areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's
Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to
recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh
yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast,
Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool.
