My first trip to this reserve but hopefully not my last - An amazing variety of habitats & birdlife. Friends recommended taking a full day to walk the 6km+ to visit the 20+ viewing areas and, seriously, I could have spent 2 days and doubled the enjoyment. The birds are up close and personal on many of the hides, seemingly... More

If you like bird-watching then you could spend all day here. I recommend looking at their website which has information in both French and English and a calendar showing the best times of day to go. I quite like watching birds but did get a bit tired after a couple of hours! It's quite a large reserve - we walked... More

Great experience even for none bird watchers or none photographers. Long footpaths, varied habitats & plenty of hides. Seeing a dozen or so Storks nesting in the treetops was particularly impressive. The differing seasons do have an effect on what you will see though as does the time of day. Very easy to spend a full day walking around.

We picked a lovely autumn sunny day to visit. It is a wonderful place to view a variety of birds in their natural (and so far) unspoilt habitat. The hides are spacious and well situated. As others have suggested, going at high tide is best as most of the birds return to the reserve during that period. We visited at... More

Superb 6 km long foot trail in the delta of the Eyre river on the Basin d'Arcachon. 20 hides make it possible to spot hundreds of birds/species. Go at high tide: more birds are then in the reserve (at low tide, the move more towards the Bassin d'Arcachon itself). Very low entry price, possibility to rent binoculars; good restaurant with... We had a most interesting day out among peace and nature, even at the height of the August holiday season. Le Teich Parc Ornithologique is one of the most important bird sites in Europe, and despite our being there during low tide, we still saw a great variety of birds, fish, eels and even some coypu. Allow at least 4... More

On the train line between Bordeaux and Arcachon is Le Tiech. After a 20 minutes walk you can find yourself in the peace of the estuary. Plenty of paths to walk along, loads of hides to sit and watch the different birds and just the peaceful feeling of being away from the hustle of the city. We saw storks in... More

8 euro 90 entrance, discount for RSPB members. Good paths between 20 hides, some with stairs to give raised views. Lots of swampy areas ideal for waterfowl. Visited early afternoon and had to race back to the entrance to avoid being locked in at 7pm. Visited again the following day for a more leisurely time. It's about 45 minute walk... More

Make sure to hire binoculars at the beginning and to have some ID or €50 as a deposit for same. The children and adults loved the various cabins set up for Bird watching, even in the summer there was lots of birds to watch. We were there on a particularly hot day, therefore bring some liquids with you. It takes... More
