Costa Maya is very small and not very much todo, like in larger cities. We booked these ruins as an exursion from Carnival. The exursion is pretty expensive, but we enjoyed the tour. We were taken in a very clean, roomy bus. The ride was about an hour. The tour guides were very great and friendly. The tour lasted about... More

Definitely a must see! We stopped here on a cruise with Norweigan and booked the excursion through them with a local tour company. The guide was informative, and seemed to sincerely enjoy his job. The ride on the bus was about 45 minutes from Port, and we toured for about 2 hours. The site itself is well excavated, and there... More

These ruins were great. There were 4 large temples and several other smaller structures to see. The downside to this tour was that since it is offered out of the cruise ship owned stop there is no other way to book it other than through the cruise line which is expensive and no room for negotiation. I would recommend the... More

We came from the cruise ship Norwegian Getaway. It took about an hour each way to travel, but the bus was very comfortable and clean. Our tour guide Lizbeth had a lot of interesting facts and history to tell us, with pictures and artifacts that we could pass around as well. There were quite a number of buildings at the... More

Okay, so to be honest, this wasn't my favorite thing ever. I had a hard time hearing the tour guide. My daughter had an allergic reaction to some bug spray. My son drank too much water too fast. And then threw up. On the ruins. (As he was doing that my wife exclaimed: "Can you PLEASE get the puking child... More

We booked this as an excursion on a cruise (Royal Caribbean, but I'm sure all do this). We had never been to a Mayan ruin. This was worth it, maybe a bucket list thing (one Mayan ruin at some point in life). An hour bus ride (comfortable tour bus) thru probably the most third world place I have ever been.... More

On a recent cruise (November 2016), I booked an excursion - not through the cruise line, but through a global, respected agency for just $61.99 per person. My traveling partner and I were put on a van that was not filled through this agency, so they were waiting for walk-ups. Turns out the walk-ups paid $45 each and even got... More

We booked a tour of the ruins for our cruise ship arrival day at Costa Maya. You should be aware Costa Maya is simply a cruise ship stop with tourist retail and bars. There has never been nor is there a village or community here called Costa Maya and most of the folks you will see here are migrant workers... More

We were on royal Caribbean cruise that stopped at Costa Maya Mexico. The cruise had tours that ran around 105 a person but w decided to go on our own and took a cab to the ruins that cost us 130 for all 3, and the cab waited for us and then took us back, it's a 50 minute ride... More

The meeting place was found quite easily, using the map and asking locals. Not too far to walk. Edder was our guide, and Merlin was our driver. It was a small group tour, which I prefer to big coach tours. Edder was very knowledgeable, pointing out flora and fauna, and he made the tour interesting. My hubby walks with a... More
