We booked a weekend stay in a Shepherds Hut at Elmley Nature Reserve as a getaway. Only just over an hour from SW London it was a really easy drive and felt incredibly remote when we arrived... Just what we were after. The hut was really well presented and had a very stylish interior. It had a hot shower and... More

As one who can only walk a short distance, I found this ideal on a wet & dreary day. I was able to use my car as a hide for a large part of getting to the hide. Had the weather been better I would have been able to use my electric buggy to get to the outlying hides as... More

Sunday morning trip in glorious sunshine. Car park has been redone since we were last here. Perfect for twitchers and those looking for a great wlk around some of the best salt marsh in UK. Plenty of Marsh Harriers and interesting waders. Big open skies. Brilliant. Only a fiver per car.

The raptor area is brilliant, kids loved hawk spotting along with the marshy parts looking out for wading birds and herons

Arrived the day before the wedding we were to attend, when we looked at the bell tents, one had blown down and of the others there wasn't one that still had all it pegs in. The problem is nice new tents, and cheap bendy pegs and high winds do not work it needed some serious heavy duty pegs. Once we... More

Well worth a visit, sadly we don't visit as often as we would like, the long walk is the main problem as you get older, (Blue badge holders can drive the 1.25 mls). the rest of us have to walk, but our 4 year grandson did it. There is always a fair range of birds to see. I just love... More

Hired the barn for a family wedding and were not disappointed . A few of the guests stayed in the Shepherd huts or glamped. Facilities for the tents were a bit basic and on one night when it was very windy tents were blown about. Not much protection around the camp site if the weather is windy. That said, for a... More

I was really looking forward to my visit to this nature reserve and I wasn't disappointed. Although it is a fair walk to the hides (about 1.5 miles) there is lots to see along the way as the path is surrounded by ponds and marsh land. I saw my first Marsh Harrier and also spotted Egrets, Avocets, Lapwings, Oystercatchers, Godwit,... More
