Snow on the ground, no worries, the platform has been cleared not only for rail passengers but for folks just visiting the station. The displays are very good, clear about the area both attractions and dangers, and well done to the team from Stirling Uni with their core of peat et al. The owner is kind enough to provide makings for a hot drink too, with honesty box; and a heater in the toilets. Too early in the year for the Tearoom to be open, worry not, visit!

So weird to find this but surprisingly interesting. Even better a wonderful tea shop right next door on the platform. Sounds awful but it was amazing. Bygone Victorian days :-)

On remote Rannoch Station, this is a great place to spend half an hour before your train arrives - the visitors’ centre exhibitions are interesting and informative. Importantly, however, it provides a lovely piece of hospitality in an extremely remote area: a kettle, tea bags, snacks (honesty box) and a couple of heaters could well be a genuine life saver when there is nothing else for miles around and the weather is closing in. We left Rannoch Station feeling like I had been looked after and cared for - thank you to Jenni and Bill for giving us such a sense of Highland Hospitality.

A great insight into the history and topography of the area. Strangely enough you’ll note so much more on the drive back down once you’ve been to the centre.
