Please move this listing back to Pittsburgh!!! Having it in O'hara is like listing the Statue of Liberty outside of New York City because it's on Ellis Island. The Bayernhof is a major Pittsburgh aattraction!

Every tour I give at the museum is fun for me. I love meeting the public and sharing the stories, the music machines and the house itself with them. There are a few inaccuracies in the profile of this page. I have tried to correct Trip Advisor but no one from trip advisor will return my emails or call me.... More

The 2.5 hour home tour of eccentric Charles B. Brown, III's music museum was interesting and most entertaining! It has many levels and secret passageways within it's 19,000 square feet. Between seeing and hearing many small and large classic and unique music playing machines, of varying types of music, and seeing the fantastic view of the Allegheny River it was... More

Situated high on a hill overlooking the Pittsburgh Zoo, this mansion is filled with interesting musical machines. Every room has unique music boxes that still play, as well as fantastic views of Pittsburgh out the glass walls in the back of the house. Just when you though you had seen everything, a new stairway or turn would take you to... More

I visited the Bayernhof with 4 friends- one was my age (60+) and the others were all under 30. We all have an interest in history/architecture/music. Everyone enjoyed the entire experience- there's nothing else like it in Pittsburgh (or anywhere else!). You do have to plan in advance, as the tours are by reservation only. Definitely worth doing! There are... More

First, let's start off with some pertinent information. The tour takes approximately 2 hours, maybe a bit more. You NEED to reserve a spot ahead of time. You pay $10 at the END of the tour. It's a twisty, lots-of-turns drive to get there (GPS helped a lot in this case!). I went with my boyfriend and 2 friends and... More

Atop a high cliff with a breath-taking view overlooking the greater Pittsburgh area, the mansion reveals few of its surprises from the outside. Built by Charles Brown, a delightfully eccentric millionaire in the 1980's who employed not an architect, but an imaginative young teenager to custom design each space according to Brown's particular idiosyncracies, the mansion features loads of quirky... This is the house of a former executive who had 250 identical shirts he wore when he was still working! This tells a lot about this guy's tastes and imagination. The house itself is grand and well kept. he had a penchant of collecting, especially musical instruments. The house has a few secrets, the presentation is fun. It is an... More

I can't say enough about this hidden gem of Pittsburgh. First, it's only $10, and it's the tour is over 2 and a half hours! It's a lot better than going to a movie for that price. It's really a three-in-one experience. You learn about a very interesting eccentric millionaire through some entertaining stories. These stories help you to understand... More
