My pint size traveling companions were enchanted - Enchanted! - by this castle. There are a seemingly endless array of paths, stairways, and openings to keep little ones' imaginations busy. The only downside is, as one would expect from a centuries old attraction, Chateau de Lichtenberg is not exactly childproof. We were ever vigilant of steep drops and other hazards.

We noticed the signs to this castle on our drive from Strasbourg to Trier. In general castles in this part of Europe provide spectacular views; the views here did not disappoint either. The castle itself is in ok condition and partially restored (some of the restored buildings are too modern for the castle). The location is fairly isolated and there... More

Looks like an amazing castle unfortunately not open in the winter. Steep walk up a hill (only about 10 minutes) and done easily by children.

Anyone looking for a Disney style castle should go to Kronenburg. This 13th C Chateau is fascinating for it's unembellished architecture and down-to-earth history. It is impressive for it's cannonball scarred walls, a beautiful little chapel, and considerable (tho now dry) moat and view of surrounding region and villages. The view from the Artillery Terrace is very scenic. There is... More

Nice castle especially for the wonderful point of view all around. I advice to plan the afternoon to have the chance to walk in the mountain around.

Visited this site only to find it closed ! From the outside it looked a well preserved castle, with one of the biggest dry moats I have ever seen. Unfortunately as it was closed on our visit, we got no further than the gate. Don't make the same mistake I did - visit the website first to find out the... More
