Great views especially at sunset, you can go just at the edge of the water, really wonderful, no swimming allowed, there is a cycling patb around it as well.

Magnificent

We have visited this area for fifteen years now and keep discovering beatiful spots. Rent a bike, you can start in Orbetello and cycle around the laguna, on cycling paths, with some minor exceptions, towards the Feniglia and back.

Lovely lagoon with still water and pleasant views across the bay to island connected by car bridge. A peaceful area on the edge of town

What a sight

I would advise to go here just before sunset. Really impressive to see the sun set above the laguna, very special light effects and great pictures.

This place sounds amazing but sadly we arrived and it was closed. We will definitely check ahead before we come next time.

Orbetello lagoon
Apr 2018 • Couples
We stayed in Orbetello last week and used the car park on the lagoon side. This a pretty and unspoiled historic area of Italy. The views are lovely, the water was still, and we were able to see across to the far side. No flamingoes at this time of year, but we watched egrets daintily picking their way across the weed growing on the water, and also observed the many herons standings motionless, hoping for a good feed. There were lots of sizeable fish, mullet maybe, leaping out of the water, and shoals of fry making ripples across the surface. Despite the whiffs of sulphur from the lagoon, and the slight nuisance of mosquitoes, it is a compelling place, much reminiscent of the Camargue in southern France.

The flamingo's lagoon
Dec 2017 • Couples
One of the very few places in Europe to see hundreds of flamingos. A wild, almost untouched lagoon to discover, a lovely historical town with a bright past linked with Italo Balbo's flight to cross Atlantic 70 years ago. Restaurant, hotels, beaches are marevellous!

Beautiful, and yet disappointing
Nov 2017 • Family
A fantastic scenery that became famous in the 1930s as the starting point for General Italo Balbo flying boats cruises to North and South America. Pity, over the decades local administrations have allowed the Parco delle Crociere to rust, instead of transforming it into an open-air museum. The whole place is in miserable conditions. What a shame.
These days, the laguna is a haven for the local fauna (eels are a local dish) and the still waters provide the ideal environment for sailing and rowing competitions. The town itself offers some interesting signs of the 18th century’s Spanish occupation. Definitely worth a visit.

Good breeze on a hot day
Jun 2017 • Couples
A trip to the coast on a very hot day was a good plan. There was plenty of breeze on both sides of Orbetello blowing across the lagoons, but in terms of the things to do there, not much. Walk up one side essentially along a huge car park, take a picture of the windmill and views across to Monte Argentario, experience a slightly sulphurous pong, walk down the other side with a grassed area, trees and a breeze. Unless you do an organised trip out into the lagoon, there is not much to it.
