As you follow the boardwalk along this beach in an achingly beautiful valley, you will pass close to the ruins. Don't be tempted to think that you might as well just see it from there. Do make the effort to go round the museum and access the ruins from there. It's free for EU nationals. Press the buttons on the... More

You can see the remains from the board walk running behind the sea. Very atmospheric and well worth the trip as it is in a very beautiful, unspoilt setting and easy to imagine what it must have been like in roman times.

A bit of history in a breathtaking setting. Ideal to introduce children to Roman theatre and architecture and finish off with a trip to a lovely beach. Worth viaiting on a slightly cooler day or with a lot of sun cream. Buggy and wheelchair friendly.

I don't think I can adequately describe the experience of touring this site. I have not been to any of the more "famous" sites such as Pompeii or Ostia, but Baelo Claudia is the real deal. A gorgeous setting, sensitively preserved AND admission is only 1.50 Euro for non-EU members. We were amazed at the size and location of this... More

Excellent site to get an idea of how a small Roman town was organised. Interesting remains of fish pickling industry. Close to the almost empty fine sanded beaches south of Tarifa. Free entrance for EU-citizens. The adjacent new museum is an architectual highlight, framing the views as if they were a piece of art. Nothing much to see from the... More

One of the most impressive historic sights we have ever been. No words could best convey the message than just do it. We picked out the place following a visit to Cadiz's Museum and we were not let down by the guidance we had there. The sight is humbling, one will breath history at every single corner.

Situated about 20 minutes drive from Tarifa and about 1 1/2 hours from Estepona, the Roman ruins are right on Bolonia Beach. There is ample paved parking and the museum building is modern. It has a small gift shop and nice restrooms. Admission is free for EU residents and 1,50€ for non-EU residents. Weather wasn't so nice today, so we... More

First found this site in 2003 and over the years it has grown and improved. Quite breathtakingly beautiful setting and well worth a visit.

Picture's can't do this place justice. Set against the deep blue sky, ocean and white sand beach, this place will take your breath away. We didn't have to pay an entrance fee, we just showed our passports to prove we were EU citizens and entrance was free. We would have paid anyway as the site was really worth visiting. We... More

Lovely location with views of the ocean and north African mountains - the Romans picked a great spot to make and ship Garum. The museum is a good introduction to the site and well labelled in both Spanish and English. It really is a delightful spot to wander round and imagine life in a major Roman city 2000 years ago....
