- Nayana MalarKuala Lumpur, Malaysia9 contributionsNeeds improvementThe trip was good for kids but overall zoo facilities can be improved. The zoo not properly managed, butterfly garden with only one butterfly, bee place with run down displays etc. And be early bird if want to watch the show as only limited 200 people allowed. I hope all the donations given to zoo by some well known organisations recently will be used for zoo's improvement.Visited September 2020Travelled with familyWritten 22 September 2020
- janet FBlyth, United Kingdom153 contributionsAnimal anticsTook our 5yr old daughter to Zoo Negara. They charge higher for non citizens but tbf its still cheaper than what you'd pay entry to a zoo/attraction in the UK for a family. The zoo itself is "tired" and in need of some tlc; however the site is big and there are plenty animals to keep you interested. We've been to some nicer maintained zoos but it's very "natural" and you will see all the animals (they can't really hide away as habitats on the smaller side) The Savannah was the best area, along with the reptile house and Panda conservation centre. It is worth a visit and you can easily spend 3-4hrs there. It is a large site, so be prepared to walk and have water with you.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 14 December 2022
- Rashidee A1 contributionWasting Money!!The animals were displays is very less and unsatisfied. The animals looks very skinny and getting old. The visitors are visiting Zoo Negara feels uninteresting and disappointed with Zoo environment.. Feels not valuable and worth it paying the expensive tickets.. Wasting money, never come back!!Visited October 2022Travelled with familyWritten 25 October 2022

Many enclosure are empty presumably the animals are dead. Most of the animals look sick and old. There only 1 old chimpanzee and the orangutan look sad. The Tuanku Abdul Rahman Aquarium looks bad. Especially the glass panels with all those scratches some with green moss on it. Only 1 camel, most of the animals are just 1 left. The only saving grace there are the Pandas. Not worth your time and a real waste of money.

We timed our visit so that we could watch the animal show at 11.00 am . The show is in Malay language but we still enjoyed it. Kids will love it.
The highlight was the Savannah enclosure which has giraffes, zebra, ostrich etc and the panda enclosure. Although we did not time it that way, the pandas ( two right now) were fed lunch around 12.30 pm and it was a sight to see.
We bought our tickets in advance through klook.

I go alone specially for the panda even though the both the panda was resting when I visited them (which is around 1pm) I did not use the tram so it's extremely tiring from the long walk to see all the animals but still I enjoy it. I have never visited a zoo before! Though it's really expensive including the transport grab for a foreigner.

The place is big and the scenery is beautiful. My favourite is the White Tiger part. Every money that it's spent is worth it.

Parking RM10 per entry. Park & walk to ticketing counter, buy your ticket to enter. I suggest getting the buggy ride tickets too after you enter. It will bring you into the most important area of the zoo, there you get to see tigers, zebras, giraffes, pandas, flamingo and elephants, all within walking distance. Then, head back to where the buggy drop off station was & ride back out using a different route, safe & slow, enjoy watching the animals around you, minus the time & energy to walk, especially for young kids. There were shows too, but please check the time & go earlier to get a nice spot. No paper brochure, scan QR for a digital one on your smartphone. You may bring in your own food, picnic with the animals.

its nice but I do take issue with non malays paying twice the normal price..dont think that happens outside of Malaysia.
zoo itself is clean ...animals all resting in shade..except the panda house which was really good as they were active..gift shop selling panda toys at inflated prices...all in all worth a visit but expensive for tourists

I visited the KL Zoo Negara with my husband and kids. The zoo was quite expensive for non citizens. The queue to get into the golf cart was also a bit crazy. The animals looked a bit weak to me. I think the guests and the animals were both struggling with the heat. The scenery is quite nice though. It's far from the city and the pick up and drop off areas are not very well marked for grab taxis. The panda centre is the highlight and it was great to see the panda's (although they were asleep). I wish the golf cart situation improves at the zoo, it could make it a better experience.

Amazing and lively zoo. These are my unbiased and honest observations for my visit. We were very surprised by this zoo. I don’t do reviews if I didn’t enjoy my visit. It’s way above my expectations. We visited top rated zoos in asia and SEA region. I can’t believe this. I put this zoos as one of the best in terms of variety in SEA. Lots of animals from roaring lions to marine life. So many bird species, cat species, marine mammals reptiles and so on. This zoo is totally underrated by many viewers.

What type of food they sell? What are the names of the food stalls? Is there any newly they developed for food this year?

Mostly are snacks food which will be able to be carry around the Zoo when viewing the animals. I only had ice creams, noodles and drank mineral water. I supposed there are new food development every year but it's best to contact the Zoo management directly.
