I went there with bunch of friends trying out hiking in Johor. Check in at one of the budget hotels in Kulai for the night. Early morning went to Gunung Pulai recreational forest located 20 minuets drive from our location. You can also stay at some home stays in Gunung Pulai area. The air was cool and refreshing. We ate breakfast with the one of the best nasi lemak stalls there and afterwords start hiking up to starting point. There was a gate to prevent unauthorized vehical going up since there is a communication tower at the top and well guarded by military personnel. After passing the waterfall section further up there we went through the trail section (Hutan Pelajaran). There is a signboard on your right and we went through and up using the trail all the way till the top. In between the peak there is a big boulder area where you can rest awhile before continuing up and reach the top. The trail will merged into the tarmac and the Gunung Pulai sign would be at the first communication tower with some viewpoint of JB and Kulai. Going done was not easy but surely if you have good footing can easily reach the bottom in no time. We stop at the river and waterfall section and took a cool swim and chill for awhile before heading for lunch in Kulai 8Kati. It was a good hike with good friends. Will repeat again.

If u r looking for a good place to hike, picnic n waterfall, this would be a great place. I only go for hike and i can only say it is a moderate challenge n if u r up for the challenge n willing to spend approx 3-4 hours, then this is the place. The hike to the peak requires ant 2-2.5 hours depending on ur stamina. They have 2 small areas where u can stop n rest (CP7,8,9) at regular trail. You can do picnic at CP7 n 9, hang ur hammock or just lie on the ground enjoy the wind. I must cleaniliness is better here n hope it stays that way. I went solo hike here n u can do it so long u follow the usual trail (usually marked with red ribbon tie at branches). If u r not sure, just ask the regulars there.

Was a very clean and nice place to hike. Its about 6km hike to the peak. The air was very fresh. We hiked the road so the view is not so fascinating at the peak. Apart from that, it was a very tiring hike and a very good exercise.

We missed the Roti Canai place, Anggu Cafe but had very nice simple Nasi Lemak further up the road. The mountain was misty when we arrived, but dark cloudy and heavy rain came after our simple breakfast. So we waited about 1hour for the rain to stop. It was still drizzling when we started. The Jungle learning trail was easy to spot with the signboard Hutan Pelajaran. There are no further signage after that. The trail is not well marked and we need to climb over tree roots and fallen trees often. Basically like a obstacle course for legs and arm training. The ground was very wet and muddy after the train. Lucky there are other hikers and we asked for directions. A group warned us not to take small trail as we may get lost. We mostly followed main trail with a red cloth tied to small trees. There are 2 clearings with simple view. There was a area we walked through lots of fern which I liked a lot. Another landmark are 2 pieces of huge rocks. We reached back the main road again after the jungle path. We cant go up to the summit which house a communications towel. The guard will blow his whistle when visitors cross the stop line. We descent via the main road which is steep in many area. Overall a ok hike for hill climbing training.

a great hideout from daily hurry bury, a great choice of place for hiking, jogging and leisure. Tropical jungle awaits you ahead with scenic view throughout the path. it's a 5km trek. u may encounter wild life such as silver tails, gibbons, civet cat and many species of birds and also insects. this is the closest u can get to nature not too far from city.
