- wtravelerAtlanta136 contributionsAmazing beachWe visited this place and enjoyed the hustle bustle, You can pay watch fireshow in the evening and watch the sunset. There are lot of water sports in the area and many vendors that will sell you packages. There are restaurants that give sunset dinners and you can also sit on bean bags to watch the fire show for RM 40+ for couple. There are lot of restaurants and street shopping in the area, Don't buy any Kilm geoforest tour here you are better booking it directly from the website.Visited February 2024Written 23 February 2024
- middlegam212 contributionsChange has & is happening.Wide beach and a good length, lovely fine sand. It’s quieter towards Casa Del Mar end but alas as others have stated, it’s become very busy with jet skis during the day and vehicles driving up and down the sand dropping & collecting them in the morning and evening. The cars / trucks don’t seem to care about people walking along the beach and often people have to jump out of the way as the cars try to go up the inclines. Also as the block footpath runs the length of the beach this is now used by mopeds to drive up and down all day long again forcing people to get out of the way. Lots of rubbish left on beach at sunset, but this generally gets cleared up the next morning or sadly washed into the sea. Construction taking place and some larger buildings being built, especially towards the Park Royal end where what looks like a rather large development is being built, Tropicana Cenang.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 March 2024
- peterNelson, New Zealand199 contributionsAlways changing beqchIt's relaxing peaceful days may be in the past. Each time we go back it gets busier and busier, at the southern end of the beach there is now a large Park Royal hotel and a development for 800+ apartments. At the northern end opposite Casa del Mar is plans for a new shopping mall, still a few years away but more and more development. You decide if it's a good thing or not. The actual beach is still lovely, nice white sand good swimming. Jet ski's and parasailing still active as ever.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 June 2024
- LeanneMo84Melbourne, Australia49 contributionsA bit like Patong in Phuket but on a smaller scaleStopped in Cenang Beach on the way back from Crocodile Adventureland and visited the beach. Reminded me a little bit of Patong in Phuket but on a smaller scale. Lots of beach activities to do, wonderful views and close to shops, hotels, cafes etc. a little bit of litter strewn around which was disappointing. Worth a visit if you are in the area.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 July 2024
- Stuart TLondon, United Kingdom62 contributionsWorth a visit, but I think it's over developed.I was a bit disappointed. It is a nice beach, but certain parts have been taken over by jet-ski tours and paragliding companies. Certainly spoiled it a bit from when I came 10 years, ago. Its certainly not what I would class a tranquil.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 August 2024
- MaddyBeeSingapore, Singapore153 contributionsOkay beach, great breezy walkThe beach was quite cluttered with trash and the sand looked an oily green near the water, I suspect it was low tide but didn't expect the sand to look like that. It's the monsoon here so maybe that played a part. Otherwise the sea breeze is lovely and fresh, some good views of neighbouring islands, a beach fireshow to watch if that's your thing, and some bice beach cafes and bars for sundowners and dinner.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 September 2024
- AnuradhaNew Delhi, India1,410 contributionsAverage regular beach but vibrant due to fire showAn average beach, not very clean, not very blue/ green water ! Only highlight is the fire show which happens at sun set time. It was a good experience to see the fire show along with sun set, grabbing a bean bag and mock-tail provided by the vendors with 20 MYR. Make sure to reach by 6:30 pm to enjoy the sunset.Visited October 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 October 2024

While it’s certainly worth a visit, I personally prefer more secluded beaches. For this reason, I recommend pairing your visit to Cenang Beach with Tanjung Rhu Beach, as it offers a contrasting experience. Be sure to visit during the daytime to enjoy clear skies and catch the breathtaking sunset. Cenang Beach was the first beach I visited upon arriving in Langkawi, and it left a lasting impression.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 4 November 2024

One end to the other round , about 1 hour. Very nice views there were 2 swings for people wanting to sit or play.Visited October 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 November 2024
- possagolBrescia, Italy2,262 contributionsover-exploitedhuge white beach, is not the most beautiful because the sea here is a bit murky. the beach is very crowded and too exploited with jet skis and boats x para sailing, you can smell a lot of gasoline also due to the evening shows made with fire. however to see also x a walk. this was the beach we had in front of the hotelVisited November 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 December 2024

It is a hugh beach with nothing much to do unless you are very keen with the water activities which quite pricey to me. The day time is absolutely very hot if it is not a rainy day, the water is not the clean & clear compared to Koh Lipe but it is still all right if you would like to swim but no clean & clear water for your information. There are restaurant along the beach that run by the hotels. Nothing fanciful. Perhaps maybe it will be more exciting after sunset as some restaurant set up the dinning tables on the beach. There are some fire show around perform by the local, it is not free coz they will collect money from you if you are standing within thier audience boundary. Well stay away if you are not feeling to chip in.

Nice colour sand, firm wide beach which is easy to walk on, not too overcrowded, good for sunsets, nice to sit back and people watch, water sports available.
Not the nicest ocean, jelly fish and not clear water. Majority of places don’t sell alcohol, we’ve been here a couple of days and probably spotted 10 in the length of the strip. Limited beds on the beach, £2 each for the day.
Some parts are not the cleanest. Things don’t have to be new and modern to be clean, but I’ve been disappointed numerous times.
Not seen any massages on the beach, but plenty of shops in the road behind, 60 minute foot massage approx 60 MR which is £11 ish, body massages slightly higher.
Scooter hire requires a driving license and costs £7 per day approx. Use cash for fuel not foreign bank card to avoid pre authorisation charge being taken.
Fire show on the beach was excellent.
Subway, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, McDonald’s deserts all in the centre.
Had a nice enough time, but just missing the wow factor for me.

Watersports, beach games, beach bars, hotel by the beach, seashells lining the beach for your picking, these are not the only attraction.
If you loves sunset (not during monsoon season), you can watch it here and on a good day, it will be spectacular. It's golden rays fills the sea and shells on the beach.
A surprise attraction was the "beach buskers". They performed some incredible stunts with flaming baton, flaming balls and flaming cannon. This was just after sunset.

Had seen many lovely pics of this beach so headed there our first day in Langkawi.
Yes it had my lovely white sand I had searched for, however, the beach is a water sport beach, full of jet skis.
You had to be careful where to swim and obvs couldn’t go out far due to the jet skis that went out in groups. Never seen so many.
We walked along the beach looking for a bar / snack place around midday. There was nothing open. The beach does come alive late afternoon and night and bars suddenly appear. Amazing watching the sunset.

One of the cleanest beach I've seen in Malaysia. White-soft-fine sand (good to walk barefoot along the beach). Shallow & clear water (good for swimming). Quite long & big (can accommodate lots of people at the same time). Become an average (3 star) instead of very good (4 star) because of jet ski : overpopulated & annoying plus could be dangerous to swimmers. Should have separate section for them.

The beach is clean with local food shacks along side. Not many venture into water but prefer water sports instead. The water is a little muddy on this beach and we also heard of jelly fish bites on this beach. We did go into the water albeit very carefully. Evenings are very happening with lot of people sitting on bean bags and enjoying their drinks and food. Some shacks entertain them with fire plays. We enjoyed our walks along the beach both in the mornings and evenings. Avoid daytime due to the humid and heat.

Beach was nice and clean. Plenty of watersport available but don’t book anything from this watersport service, HMI Watersports.
They have a booth in Pantai Cenang. The moment you entered Pantai Cenang from carpark, a guy from that company will come to approach you. We booked parasailing and jetski from them (made online payment) but unable to do the jetski due to rain.
They closed the booth and mentioned they will refund to us in the call. No refund have been made in the end.
There are plenty of watersport booth in Pantai Cenang. Try others!
P.s the true cost of watersport is >50% lesser than what listed on the board. Avoid this watersport provider!

Lovely stretch of fine soft sand which was fairly clean. Lots of cafes but only 3 selling alcohol along the whole stretch of beach. This was very disappointing as a foreign visitor and only half a dozen places to buy drinks in the whole resort.
The “Langkawi” sign has been removed from the south end of the beach and there is a large construction site in the making. This was noisy all day and is likely to be there for years as they are building three large towers. This will certainly change the views.
Sea was cloudy and overall the resort is scruffy and seems to be in a transitional phase which will probably ruin the original charm.
Glad I visited but probably won’t return.

No plastic or other trash was visible as I walked the lenght of the beach. The sand felt soft under my bare feet and oil spils were not frequent. The muddy water, same colour as the huge jellyfish doesn't invite to swim. Several budget restaurants line the area and start serving food at four o'clock.

Family-friendly beach, lots of eateries and pack with activities during the day. Night life is pretty chill here and lasts until midnight.
Bike and bicycle rental are provided at a reasonable price. It's a better travelling option than driving because parking bays around the area are limited, by late evening the place is very crowded so do come early if you travel by car.
Food is abundant here, but alcoholic drinks are available at certain eateries only. Local food is just okay but quite pricey compared to other places in Langkawi. If you want to try local delicacies, go to small restaurants/stalls just outside of Cenang Beach where you can taste authentic local dishes at a cheaper price.

Are families with children welcomed in the bars along the beach. We were looking forward sunset drinks whilst the kids can enjoy the beach.
Written 23 February 2020
hi, no problem as the law is very relaxed and all the bars on the beach are very open so you will find you are practically sitting on the beach and they all have food so to ban children would not make economical sense and they all have good WiFi so once you are logged in you can return and automatically logged in and watch the sunset. i have travelled to most of the world and this beach and the island itself is by far the best and that beats the Caribbean. the only one that comes close is tioman island. just writing this i want to return which i have promised myself.

We are 60+ active couple. We like enjoy walking in the evening, and have a drink, eat and people watch in a nice environment. Is Cenang beach for us, or Pantai kok/tengah
Written 26 January 2019
Hi Christine,
Pantai Kok is a secluded serene beach area unlike Pantai Cenang or Pantai Tengah beaches. There are no hotels or resorts on this public beach (other than two luxury resorts tucked in a corner), neither any eateries to spoil the natural beauty, thus making it very quiet.
Whereas Pantai Tengah which is actually an extension of Pantai Cenang, starts at the southern end of Pantai Cenang near the Underwater World, and goes for a long stretch towards south.
While the beach is similar in appearance to Pantai Cenang, but it is far quieter and tranquil, and unaffected by the rush of tourists. There are several chalets and hotels along the beach, Spas, restaurants as well as many shops selling clothing, accessories, souvenir and gift items along the road (Jalan Pantai Tengah) that runs parallel to the beach. There are also beach bars located right on the beach itself.
So Pantai Cenang is where the action is because it is the HUB of Langkawi. As you walk along the road, you will see numerous shops of all kinds, tour agencies that offer packages and restaurants lined up on both sides. The road comes alive after dark when tourists and residents all flock to this place for shopping, eating and drinking. There is also a duty free shopping center here called Zon at the southern end of Pantai Cenang. The nightlife continues until late hours in Pantai Cenang area. Other than many restaurants and bars on the road, there are several beach bars on the Pantai Cenang beach itself, some of them compliment the experience with music and even jam sessions that carries on till the wee hours. Several on-beach restaurants offer candle lit dinner with drinks right next to the waters. Surprisingly, many of them are inexpensive.
So Christine, you have the answer now. Enjoy Langkawi!!!

I assume you want to do this whilst you use the beach, so I would suggest you go to the main road that runs parallel to the beach and ask there. I am pretty sure there are facilities there.
