We just love walking along Chester's Meadows and the River Dee. We used the Meadows as part of our school cross country route way back in the 70's and I'm still regularly walking along the Meadows today. There is always plenty of wildlife to see, particularly herons and water fowl, and I love watching the rowers training on the river... More

The meadows walk is accessed on the south side of the suspension bridge from the Groves continue due east to the Earls Eye where the River Dee flows from the south. Today's walk was sublime beautiful Autumn colours and a free walk as far as you wish. We went as far as Aldford (2 hours) had lunch at the Grosvenor... More

Love a walk on the meadows with husband and daughter, can walk as far or near as you like and enjoy the fresh air, views of river houses and the dee for free! We quite offen bring a throw away barbie (and ensure its out,and take rubbish with us) and just enjoy a chill afternoon. Can park in some side... More

I walk my dog on here daily. It is such a beautiful place. Its quiet, scenic and everybody who uses it keeps it clean litter free. A definate for a romantic walk.

wide open green spaces, fantastic views of the river and the city. NOT a short cut to anywhere though! but great to roam around.

Originally known as the Earl's Eyes (islands) in an Elizabethan sale document held at the National Archives, this floodland was given to the city in perpetuity by Mr Brown of Brown's of Chester. Here you can leave the hustle and bustle of the city and walk miles along the riverside, returning the same way.

Great views of Chester and along the river plenty of places for picnics and walks and wildlife spans for 3 to 4 miles

A great expanse for dogs to walk on or off leash depending on how obedient your canine friend is. It is really beautiful as it is on the bank of the dee.

Only a stones throw from chester city centre you can reach the meadows over the suspension bridge in the groves. Take a walk by the river for miles eventually get to the village of farndon. Or take a short walk to sandy lane ferry where a small boat takes you to the kids play area in sandy lane. Can sit... More
