Royal Liverpool Golf Club is delighted to welcome visitors to play our challenging, historic links. Please see our online Tee Booking system for details, discounts apply on Mondays.Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake has staged major tournaments throughout its long history including 11 Open Championships. The Open made a successful return to Hoylake in 2006 when Tiger Woods achieved his third victory. The Women's British Open will be played at Hoylake for the first time in 2012, then the Open returns in 2014. The Club was formed in 1869, making it the second oldest links in England. Hoylake has a long and distinguished history of golfing firsts: It was host to the inaugural men’s amateur championship in 1885; the first ever international match between Scotland & England in 1902; the first Home International matches & the first transatlantic contest between GB&I & the USA in 1921, an event which became the Walker Cup the following year. In fact, it is Hoylake's contribution to the amateur game that has set it apart from other clubs. The historic memorabilia in the clubhouse is well reknowned. Golfers are welcome to follow in legends' footsteps to play our links.

Food

We held a dinner dance at the RLGC for about 60 people. The food was excellent and the staff very professional and attentive. Would definitely do it again.

Don't be deceived by the appearance of an open field as The Open is well placed here particularly if the wind turns up ......which is most days. A true test of length and accuracey , hence it's motto 'far and sure'. Superbly manicured but totally natural a course than will test your short and long game . 10/10 for those... More

A British Open venue, and a historic course itself, Royal Liverpool Golf Club was one of the reasons why I travelled half way around the world to play and experience the atmosphere. I was not disappointed. Neil, the started welcomed me from the off set, which doesn't happen often at any golf course of any caliber. He took me around... More

Hoylake is a very historic course. It was 6th course in the world to have 18 holes and was start of amateur championship golf. The course is very flat, similar to Muirfield, tough, but with a more forgiving rough. The club-house is superb and worth seeing for its golf memorabilia.

Before my latest trip to one of the R & A's popular British Open choices I had visited Royal Liverpool twice before, once to play and once to see Tiger Woods prevail in benign conditions. On both occasions I had left relatively disappointed. Could a very cold and windy day improve upon previous experiences? Not entirely no. The thing about England's... More
