This castle is stunning, the ruins stand on a rocky ridge with splendid views all around. The walk up from the car park is relatively short but steep and it is best to wear walking shoes. The day we visited was clear and sunny but the wind was very strong and the lady in the kiosk said I should be... More

Worth the strenuous climb for the views. Must go on clear day as views are superb. Wear good walking shoes and take guide info.

Well worth the drive and 15 minute hike up the trail and steps to achieve the Chateau (Cathar fortress). The views on the way and at the roof of the castle/fortress were spectacular of the surrounding regions.

This Cathar castle is set on a rocky ridge and offers stunning views in all directions. The path up to the entrance is initially fairly good but gets steeper later on.

Having visited most of the big Cathar castles in the area, this was the most complete, with breathtaking views across to the Canigou, the coast and Perepyteuse castle. It really gave you a shadow of the past and a sense of what life was like when holed up there.. A bonus for us as entrance costs were free during patrimony... More

Well worth a detour to see this splendid example of a Cathar castle. It can be very windy and a torch would be useful.

Superb chateau. Have walked the route twice. Well marked and very rewarding with superb views. Queribus is breathtaking. We ate lunch at the end at la table du cure in cucugnan - delicious. The walk takes 3 hours if you are a strong walker, 4 if you are slower. Parking in cucugnan is easy and there is a good spot... More

The cathare castle ruins are all very nice. You'll be able to make gorgeous photos. There are some very strong winds up there so you should be careful. Also check out Peyrepertuse, Puilaurens, Puivert and Las Tors (Montségur should be nice too).

We visited Queribus and Peyrepertuse castles on the same day. At Queribus we bought audio guides which were informative and entertaining - the commentary was someone pretending to be a French soldier visiting the castle hundreds of years ago. It was difficult initially to understand the accent but in the end it was one of the highlights of the visit.... More

This is a fantastic castle and is at the top of my list for best castles. The views are amazing and it's a bit scary when the wind blows up there. Not for those scared of heights.
