I went to Burford Garden Centre today with family, my first visit since December 2019. It is certainly improving in lots of ways and the investment is paying off judging by the Number of people there. We had lunch and the menu was limited, that might be due to the Covid 19 situation of course, but at over £7 for a sandwich prices are on the high side and the quality of the food does not justify the cost. Work is continuing but much still needs to be done including updating the toilets. The house is not open due to social distancing yet everyone is being channeled down the narrow corridor next to the toilets to get to the cafe due to the ongoing work outside! Most of the garden Centre is full of Christmas decorations, but the plants that are there are good quality on the whole.…

Another good experience at Burford House Cafe and Gardens following our visit on Sunday. Since being taken over by British Garden Centres the Cafe is ten times better than it was following a complete makeover including the outside eating area equipped with very comfortable wicker tables and chairs. Every time we visit something new or improvement has been made to enhance our experience. It goes without saying that the service and food are top notch cooked and served by friendly and obliging catering staff. I took the opportunity of a stroll around the extensive and well laid out gardens which is an experience in its self and well worth the effort. Congratulations to the Manager and his hard working staff for providing this well run establishment. Recommended.…

New, improved, excellent garden centre, mature riverside gardens, cafe, and soon to include a restaurant and concession shops in the old house. What a maekeover - 11/10. It was lovely and quaint before so the improvement was so surprising. Go spend at least half a day there.

Visited on a Wednesday lunch to make use of the eat out to help out discount. It was busy! Pros: - the garden centre has been extended and is so much better than it was. - the awful pot holes have been filled in! - tea room staff were working so hard in the heat with their masks on, I really felt for them, but not enough staff to deal with demand. - lots of nice outdoor seating for the cafe. The cons: - the house is closed, most of the stock is now in the garden centre though. - it was so busy in the cafe that groups were swooping on tables and cleaning wasn’t happening. There was also a fight for chairs and didn’t seem to be enough to go round. - I know there is a probably a reduced menu at the moment but disappointed with lack of vegan options. If I have to look at jacket potato and beans again I will go mad! Please consider a vegan sandwich filling or hot dish, and a cake choice. - we were given our food but no cutlery. My husband went inside to find some and was told it would be brought to us. It wasn’t and he had to go in again. Again told it would come to our table which it eventually did but our food was sat there ages. The staff were rushed off their feet. - children’s play area still roped off. It’s been tatty for years and was out of action before Covid but please give us a new one! It’s mentioned on the website that there is an adventure playground. There isn’t! Kids were disappointed again and we had to take them into tenbury after. - no duck food bags available. You used to sell it for 50p a bag and my kids loved it in the past, so again we’re disappointed. Hopefully things will continue to look up with new investments because this place has so much potential. We really want it to be a family friendly place to visit as we are repeat visitors. …

We visited Burford House on Sunday...a nice drive from Hereford. We visited last year and were so disappointed at how run down it had become...well today we were delighted to see what is to be an exciting newly refurbished Garden Centre under new ownership...we walked around the gardens which can also be seen are being opened up and made more visitor friendly...such amazing work by the volunteers....the house still closed of course but will look forward to a return visit when things hopefully get back to normal...our only concern was the cafe !....we thought the current hygiene regulations were sadly lacking....lots of people walking into the covered area without face coverings....no one challenged them....the young ladies serving had no face covering and were serving food handling money etc...lastly neither the tables or chairs were wiped down, sadly a disappointing end to the day.…
