Fascinating place to stumble across. Enjoyed walking alongside the locks, looking at the mechanisms and exploring the flowers and birds along the way. Would love to go again. One of our party has difficulty walking very far, so we could walk further than about 4...More

I hadn't done this walk for years and years and am glad I did it again. It's lovely, peaceful, interesting, and not at all strenuous. Great for dogs and children, as long as they don't jump into the canal! Recommended!

Lovely place this, it's an escape from the extremely busy suburbs of the surrounding areas. So if you're a canal walk and countryside enthusiast give it a go, you'll love it.

I walk down the locks several times a week. Great to get away from the mainstream. Paths are good (bit muddy in winter but as you'd expect!), plenty of wildlife to see.

Great place for a peaceful walk surrounded by countyside and heritage. We drove but Marple is easily accessible by train. Lots if choices for refreshments in Marple Bridge from traditional pub lunches, coffee, Chinese food and more.

16 locks which took us about 3 and a half hours by boat - going downhill, slowly. Stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

An amazing feat of engineering, especially as it was all done by blokes with shovels....Also a lovely walk. Lots to see as people potter about on their boats and some lovely gardens to gasp at.
