Iced during Winter

During Snow festival, this waterfall turned ice...but still is beautiful. Tried free sampling tea from small shop there...it has quite a distinct taste and smell.

We rented a bike 'for free) at our hostel in Sounkyo and drove the bike for 2-3km to the falls. Easy trip and not much tourists to be seen.

We drove to this waterfall after coming down from Kurobe ropeway. Its a short 15-20mins drive. Its a twin waterfall, however, the view was just average after visiting so many waterfalls overseas and in Japan. Unfortunately, the autumn colours already over when we visited on 18 Oct, else the view would have been better. Will not specially make a trip... More

Pse note - To check if the place is available during winter. This place is popular for the hot spring hotel during the winter period and many of the restaurants may be close. But I still managed to get some nice picture. I was here in Autumn 11 years ago and this time I managed to catch the winter look.... More

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Hokkaido. It is nice to stroll around the Daisetsuzan National Park and enjoy the natural scenery. You may be disappointed by the small size of the waterfall if you had seen much bigger ones in other countries.

Ginga water is said to be the female waterfall pairing with Ryusei waterfall - the male, just perfectly paired up as the "husband and wife" falls. The giant waterfalls rushing down violently from the huge rocks from the mountain top is truly a most beautiful view. Maple leaves view in late autumn here is awesome. Will make a unforgettable memory.

One of the few attractions in the area. It is basically two tall but narrow water falls going down to a rapid river. Take a few snaps of photo and you can be on your way. There is also a short but gradient hike up to a plateau where you can take an unobstructed photo of both falls, but its... More

Beautiful falls, surrounded by Autumnal hews as the trees moved from green to golden glows of orange, yellow and fiery red. Only the crowds stopped this from being five stars. Best not be too critical, we were, after all, part of them. Great picture opportunities and free!
