The biggest draw of Kagura is great powder snow due to its high altitude. The ski area also has easy access to the backcountry area that attracts expert riders from all over the world. Stay at Wada Goya, a mountain hut on the ski hill, and enjoy the pure first track in the morning.

From Echigo Yuzawa station, we took a last trip bus at 11.38 to kagura, just about 20 minutes to reach there. We just wanted to see and play with snow, just paid for the ropeway which is 1,100/adult and free for children. It was a...More

Amazing start to the season. -1 degrees and great snow cover. Kagura is the first resort to be open in Yuzawa and not all the lifts and restuarants are open but still good fun. For beginners would note that Kagura slopes are rather steep and...More

It was amazing to still be able to snowboard when the weather was starting to feel like summer (and actual sweltering heat in Tokyo). Really enjoyed Kagura, the slopes are steep for beginners, and also finding your way around the slopes and lifts might be...More

Wide slopes, wild views, long season...everything here means what skiers and snowboarders are looking for near Tokyo. The transfer to the area is very handy. If you travel by train, only 80 minutes ride on Shinkansen takes you to Echigo Yuzawa Station and from there...More

I love Kagura and tend to visit every year. It's conveniently located close to Tokyo with the Shinkansen taking just shy of 90 minutes, and then a 20 minute bus ride to the gondola/ rental shop etc. Beautiful views from the top on a clear...More

Should be similar price to other resorts. But the rental is quite limited (small outfit) at the bottom of the gondola. If you mean clothing, it would be better to just buy back home (e.g. decathlon) and bring over.

This ski resort is scheduled to open in early December, but the detailed information you need to make sure in the ski resort site of the Prince Hotel. Good condition is a late December Christmas or later.
