My tour guide Norman Ortega is the best in the world. He made the difference, the trip was exciting and we had a great time. I will definitely book the trip again. As long as Norman is pur guide.

I visited Miravalles Volcano for my 47th Birthday and had a great time, aside from the rain. We enjoyed the waterfalls, sauna, hot springs and mud bath.

Six of us joined two others for this excursion with Harold our guide and Wilbur our driver. This day was filled with a variety of adventures - waterfalls, zip lining, horseback riding, hanging bridge, mud bath at the hot springs, wildlife and nature. The day also included a wonderful lunch. Harold and Wilbur were great, ask for them! They provided plenty of information, welcomed questions, and were so hospitable!

We really enjoyed this excursion.
My husband was pleased with the horse back riding, the scenery and the hot springs.
I loved the beautiful scenery, the suspension bridge crossing a river and rapids, and the friendly folks that we met on the tour

We went on the Nexus tours of the Miravalles waterfalls and crater with natural hot springs, sauna and mud baths. Our tour guide Mitchell was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable about everything and kept us entertained the whole trip! I heard it’s only open a few months out of the year due to the rain but a definite MUST if traveling to Liberia! Such a beautiful country! Am going back for sure!

The overall attractions were awesome to see, experience and lunch was good. The company we booked through was very responsive leading up to our trip but the overall cost was a bit high for the level of “structure” on the trip. I will say we were lucky to be the only two people on the hour and a half shuttle ride. We met up with one more couple when we arrived, that was a very nice aspect. I guess for the money and the other similar tours we’ve done like this.. they should offer water, towels, to take photos, little things like that can go a long way.

Suggestions if taking this tour- bring water, towel, just wear your swimsuit under comfy clothes. Bring a change of clothes for the ride back. No need for hiking shoes, tennis shoes are just fine, bring flips for waking around mud bath and showers.

Regarding pricing - the hotel offered other options with more experiences but the did last longer. We booked this in the interest of time. We left around 7:30 and got back to hotel around 2. Our driver was very accommodating and was willing to stop off if we wanted.

We enjoyed the horse back riding, the hike in the tropical forrest and the hot springs. We had a lovely lunch in a restaurant with a nice view. This is a day trip to consider during a vacation in Guanacaste.

At the base of Miravalles Volcano is the Canopy Tour in Guayabal, a zip line in a Primary Forest. You can spend the night in a rustic cabin amoung the trees surrounded by wildlife.
They also provide day long tours with horseback riding, hiking, hot springs, waterfalls, lunch etc...Or you can book a hike to the crater (all day, not for the weak)

Our tour company Tiquicia tours provided us a with a wonderful day. Driver Estaban and guide Juan were full of information from the time they picked us up until they dropped us off. This was a 3 hr there and 3 hr back day from Jaco. While at Miravelles we went horseback riding into the jungle. A track through the jungle to waterfalls, the option was there to swim. Absolutely gorgeous. From there went for a typical Costa Rican lunch. Walked to mud baths. A gated walk around the volcano cauldron to watch mud bubble from the earth and steam vents. Yes there was a slight sulfer smell. 😈 there is a well defined explanation to the process you follow; sit in sauna for five minutes, go to mud baths and cover yourself, allow to dry, shower off, then there are 3 'hot tubs to relax in. Very cool. You do end up smelling afterwards, so take a shower when you get home. Clothes need to be washed afterwards to remove smell. There are shower facilities, change rooms and toilets.
