This was my first visit to an active volcano, and I highly recommend this trip. We were taken by a private van drive to the national park, from Playa Junquillal. It was about a 2 hour drive through the countryside. Upon arrival we boarded a closed in wagon, pulled by a tractor, to the waterfall trails. The trails meandered thru... More

My girlfriend and I just returned from Costa Rica and we visited the Miravalles Volcano. The landscape on the hike up was breathtaking. We did the horseback riding option and the horses were very tame and well-trained. Once we reached the volcano, we were amazed by all the mud pools and baths. You could see the steam rising in the... Las Hornillas Tour at Miravalles Volcano was absolutely fantastic. We went hiking through a rainforest, saw a few waterfalls, I even jumped into one from a platform after our tour guide decided to jump in as well. We rode a tractor through the foothills of the volcano, I had the best plate of food since being in Costa Rica for... More

Great Place to visit. Loved the area and the simplicity. Plenty of waterfalls and the Miravalles Volcano Canopy Tours is the best tour in the area.

affordable and excellent - I'm not sure it gets much better than this tour honestly. Included an easy hike through a rainforest, crossing multiple canopy bridges over the waterfalls, a trip into a volcano where you can feel the steam on your face and put mud all over your skin. Great fun and a very unique experience!

Everything about this trip was perfect. We booked the trip with Brothers. Marvin on the beach set up our trip and Alex was our tour guide. There were 10 in our group and the trip exceeded our expectations, lasted almost 12 hours. We started at the Congo Trail Canopy Tour, which was very adventuresome and the guys who took us... More

First and most importantly, this tour requires a sufficient level of fitness and mobility. This is a wonderful tour provided to us by Tico Tours, but they were explicit about the physical demands it took. The trail into the waterfalls of Miravalles is very steep, uneven and the steps require long strides. The suspension bridges are a great added feature,... More

We came here for the mud baths First off, be prepared for the smell. It is awful. But expected We had a fun time in the mud baths and walking around the crater watching the steam rise and seeing the water bubbling This is not for everyone. It sure is messy. And hot. You are out in the exposed sun... More

What a great day! Cannot say enough about how glad we are to have done this tour. We stopped here and saw waterfalls and participated in a true mud bath experience. I was afraid of it ruining our clothes, but it came right out. The smell is a bit unique, and one tip is not to wear silver jewelry in... More

The Sunwing/Signature Vacations description is misleading - you are not seeing a volcano like you would in Hawaii. You are trekking up the side of a dormant volcano, seeing the impact of the volcanic silt on the rivers, horse back riding, visiting the mud baths. Our daughter had a great time - the trek through the rain forest and suspension... More
