The fort has been maintained very poorly. There are different designated areas like the soldiers resting area, poultry area etc..etc..However all of these have a steel gate and have been locked. When you look inside they are being used as dumping areas for left over construction, electrical, plumbing material. The museum has a few document copies from that era, some... More

The Danish fort in Tranquebar is its foremost attraction. The fort is not very large but it does pain to see that it has been renovated badly with almost pinkish paint on the walls and the museum housed in it is also in a sad state.

It isn't brilliantly "curated" and the choice of objects is mystifying. But there are some great wall charts that detail the history of the place - particularly interesting to us, since my partner is Danish and Denmark was associated with Tranquebar for more than 2 centuries. Worth a visit.

When you are in Tranquebar,it is 15kms away from karaikal, you should visit Danish Fort once in life time. Entry ticket is Rs 10. You will love the history of it. To view seashore also good from the fort. Fresh air and also ozone air.

It may be a historical place, But due to poor maintenance, nothing good to see here. Lot of garbage's and poor maintenance. Only good thing is you can spend some good time in sea shore.

The major attraction of Tranquebar from the old town itself is the Danish fort which was a trading post of Denmark. The fort has been maintained well and the museum inside is quite informative. It is worth a visit as the museum throws light on life in the early days of the British rule
